An open world adventure game filled with silly characters and terrible secrets.
Afterplace is an adventurous indie game for mobile devices. It's a huge open world, full of hidden secrets, treasures, and creatures. You'll run around the woods, fight monsters, and talk to ostensibly shady characters! All from your pocket! Be warned though - you never know what the forest might be hiding. Not all trails are paved. Labyrinths and dungeons are tucked away in the most concealed nooks. There are no waypoints in Afterplace. You'll have to forge your own path. Afterplace has been designed from the ground up to be a fast, fluid, beautiful experience for mobile. There are no virtual buttons. You can move and attack by touching anywhere. You can tap objects directly to interact or attack, use two thumbs like a traditional controller, or control the game with a physical gamepad. The game will adapt dynamically to your play style. Pick up and set down the game at your own pace, it will always save your progress. Afterplace is made to feel like a full-fledged indie adventure game that fits in your pocket. About the Author: Afterplace is made by one person, Evan Kice. A former software engineer from Austin TX, Evan quit his job (to the dismay of his friends and family) and has been working full time on Afterplace since early 2019. The initial game released in December of 2022, but Evan plans on continuing to support and polish the game when he can!

Incredible game! Just what I was looking for for my long car ride. the game world is atmospheric, goofy, mysterious, and often a bit disturbing in a PG horror kind of way. Could have done without so much pink on the main character but it works out.. The final boss battle was just bonkers...Ingenious idea there! Worth the full price

Kodos to the dev, this was an amazing game. I can remember what I paid for it but it was definitely worth every penny. the story is engaging and the gameplay is hard to get used to at first but still very good. 100% recommend this game to everyone looking for a fun adventure.

LLLOOOVVVEEE THIS GAME!!!
- Carl “Brian” Neely
Deserves its five star rating, unequivocally. The characters and world building are gorgeous, the combat is straightforward yet enjoyable, and the dialogue is also funny and enjoyable. A thorough delight. Well worth its asking price.
- Cassidy Durose · v1.2.22
Game was amazing! Kept me so involved and intrigued I fought to get through it in just a couple days, unfortunately😄 loved it!!!
- Nicholas Whitley
This is a wonderful game! At its heart it is about exploration and it does a great job of giving you a world you want to explore. Mechanically it is very light, but I found that it struck a good balance of being enjoyable, while allowing me to focus more on the world and the story. As you explore and get to know the world and the characters the story comes together. It strikes a fun balance of heartwarming and creepy and I found the writing very well done. It's a one time purchase, worth it!

I bought this game for an international flight and it was a great time. It has Undertale vibes. I'm not a huge gamer and have never bought a mobile game and this game had a satisfying story and progression without being too hard. As a non-gamer I also appreciated the invincible mode that could be toggled in the settings so I could get through a couple parts without tedious attempts. That said, I also really liked that dying was part of the storyline! Also the music was nicely done.
- Bridget S · v1.2.22
Genuinely a great game with excellent level design, funny dialog, and good pacing. There were sometimes I wasn't sure where to go next but I eventually found my way to the end. I liked this game very much!
- Tyler · v1.2.22
A game with soul that deserves more attention. It's funny, highly unique, and a visually beautiful game that was clearly a passion project by the solo creator. Exploration, curiosity, and cheeky player choices are rewarded every single time, even if it's just a funny hidden dialog option or interaction. Got it on sale for $1, but well worth buying at full price, as it will be one of the very few mobile games I'll remember fondly for years to come.
- Joe M · v1.2.22
One of the best games! The amount of content in this game is incredible considering it's a mobile game. The world is fun to explore and the story is pretty good. Combat is fun and controls are easy. The effort put into character development was excellent. All in all though you can just tell the dev really cared about this game. Highly recommend.
- Jonathan Powell · v1.2.22
Amazing, phenomenal game. If you enjoy games like Undertale for the story and world exploration, this has a very similar vibe regarding that aspect. The battle mechanics are easy enough to understand, the battles/encounters exciting and sometimes terrifying, absolutely a challenge worth taking on! Not many games I have found on the playstore like this that were as long or as detailed in story. Very fun, high recommendation!
- Anna Crownover · v1.2.22
i guess I thought this was a action adventure game but it's just adventure with a little combat added to make the game more than sightseing just thought this was boring: also the game was lagging and crashing very slow for a pixel game
- Jay Cee
Extremely charming, the story is intriguing. I will see where it goes.
- William Law · v1.2.22
Absolutely well done. The various gags are great, world design is nice and gives a sense of scale without being empty. The characters are great. And that finale, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen a 2d game like this do. Top notch, worth every penny.
- Dakota Stevens · v1.2.22
Weird, odd and strange game but interesting storyline and bit humorous. No complaints whatsoever. Really well made game by one person.
- Jack · v1.2.22
Wow, I really didn't expect how amazing this game would be. I hope to play more games by this developer one day! The world feels super alive, the characters are written so nicely. I looooved the story. I'm usually horrible with horror but this was very doable for me! I tend to explore every nook and cranny in games, and this was really rewarded in Afterplace. Mr Dev - I explored every library shelf with Joxxi, and then again with Joxxi and Minno, and it was such a blast, loved all the dialogue!!
- Lev F · v1.2.21
REALLY REALLY GOOD. Recommend to ANYONE.
- Remi Toulmay · v1.2.21
one of my favorite games of all time
- dahdumbguy · v1.2.21
Genuinely the best mobile game I have ever played. not overstating. It's made with so much love, so many cute details, a good story, the right amount of difficulty... just amazing. You MUST play this. I'd spend 50 bucks on a prequel.
- Janis Jansen · v1.2.21
4 stars for effort and passion went into making this game. The actual quality is 3 at best, otherwise. The story has many cheesy moments that repulsed me from really appreciating my experience, and gameplay is rather simplistic.
- The Nameless
This is simply amazing. I am only about 45 minutes in and this is one of the best mobile games I've ever played. It's so thoughtfully done. What an amazing developer.
- Noah S · v1.2.21
Easily one of if not the best mobile game I've ever played. The only thing I would change is making it longer because it's such a wonderful experience. The world is captivating and fun to explore and learn over time. The writing and characters give me similar vibes to Undertale, although I actually think the combat is more well designed in this game. This is a must play and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
- John Ouellette · v1.2.21
GOATED
- D4L3 · v1.2.21
Amazing experience, a very satisfying and thought-provoking game
- Blaž Bohinc · v1.2.21
what a gem. this should be the standard of mobile games. definitely an exploration game. it won't hold your hand which to me is a plus. world building is great. combat is simple, not extremely challenging but i enjoyed it. wish there was a sequel because the world felt so full. would love to experience more of it
- Ty · v1.2.21
I was looking for a game that truly felt designed for the phone. Afterplace plays perfectly in portrait mode and I found myself mostly using just one thumb, switching to two thumbs in tough situations. This game looks simple glancing at a screenshot, but the moment the game starts, you feel the love poured into this world. Little details in faces and animations, a timeless kind of humour, and so many cool things I won't talk about because I don't want to take away an ounce of discovery from you.
- Kelsey Scalzi · v1.2.21
The only thing I would change is either a true map or a quick travel between distant locations, but still overall incredible and beyond expectations. excellent work, and I would highly recommend.
- Brandon Bito · v1.2.21
What a beautiful, moving experience. Absolutely fantastic game.
- Paul Wood
This was a truly beautiful story, and easily makes my top ten favorite games. Evan, if you have any more stories to tell, I will happily pay any price to play them.
- Kayleigh Alyssa · v1.2.21
Just a really well done game. Good story, good gameplay, good music and sfx.
- Aaron Zakem · v1.2.21
Ohmygoodnesss I LOVE this one. Pixel art is incredible. Open world play with subtle guidance is mysterious and liberating without being aimless and frustrating. Music contributes flawlessly to cute-yet-creepy vibes. Combat is challenging enough to be engaging but not grindy failure frustrating. Story is utterly captivating. Im gushing too much, but seriously my favorite game of the year+ and I havent even finished it yet.
- Alexandra Miller · v1.2.21
Oh my goodness please please please buy this game it is objectively the BEST mobile game ever made!!!
- 240 Pineville · v1.2.21
Simple adventure game, the touch control is a bit wonky, hard to time a dodge roll with it, thankfully combat is easy enough I can just make do without rolling at all. Also the best ending isn't difficult to get is a plus, nothing in game requires googling to figure out, I enjoy games that aren't overly complicated. Overall can recommend lol.
- Cath Seth · v1.2.21
Wow. How do I even explain what an incredible experience that game was? I have not enjoyed a game like this in *years* - and it couldn't have turned up at a better time in my life. I was expecting the usual phone game experience, and it was on sale so I figured why not. Before I knew it... I'd spent the next two days straight unable to put it down. This reminds me of the magic and immersion games had when I was a kid. Thank you for such a unique game in these strange times!
- Chip Ipenburg · v1.2.21
LOVED this game!!! It took me about 6 hours to beat it and I feel like I still didn't 100% the game. it reminded me a lot of the retro Zelda game boy games. if you enjoyed playing those you will love this too! I really loved all of the characters and how they all had personalities and how funny a lot of the things they said were. Well worth the price
- Summer Winfry
Fun gameplay, gorgeous art, playful music, and sublime story. Couldn't believe it was a solo project.
- Nahom Ephrem · v1.2.21
This was a fun game, I loved the world it was in, it had fun and funny characters and a simply combat that anyone can master. I was invested in the story, it had drama, horror, comedic relief and gets serious when needed. This is definitely a game you return to, to experience the game again and explore every ending
- Sifiso Thwala · v1.2.21
Beautiful. The 80's pixel graphics, original music and storytelling is superb. Highly recommend.
- JAY VINCE · v1.2.21
Oh man... WHAT. A. GAME. Seriously, from the first dialog I was hooked. The jokes, the style, the characters, the story, the gameplay, Everything was top notch. I just wanted some one-handed vertical game, and I found this GEM. Thank You for making this game!
- Gábor Orosz · v1.2.21
great little game. played 1 time though and going at it again to get a new ending. The multiple endings reminds me of one of my old time favorites Chrono Trigger.
- R. OKAZAKI · v1.2.21
Simply Excellent. I don't play much on mobile, but this game is so well designed and thought out, that it works perfectly. I prefer a real controller when playing games in general (this one does support that too) but it was very playable and great to play with just touch. kudos to the developer. Cleverly written, this should be a must buy for any top-down rpg fan.
- Nick Fieldhouse · v1.2.21
hatr the map
- jade a
i'm just speechless, what a experience! a shiny sparkling gem in a sea of garbage that is the mobile gaming platform.
- Unknown Entity · v1.2.21
The intuitiveness of the controls is just artwork. The dialogue is top notch. Love the map based navigation elements. Absolutely phenomenal!
- Lance Voxel · v1.2.21
I did not expect to cry
- T.X. Watson
I love the game. The gamepad support and portrait-landscape orientation switch are truly magnificent. Unfortunately, it would be good if there was a button or option to adjust the zooming graphics which will exclusively show a minimap, but not when not zoomed in. Lastly, I've had a problem with loading, which takes a few minutes each time I switch to another map location, making me think the game has frozen and even making me sleepy. I hope you can improve the game in the next update 🔥💪
- yambaca · v1.2.20
pretty cool, ruins are a bit confusing cuz of the sprites but enjoyable experience
- Ata Anon
Beautifully designed game, with a lot of heart.
- Ayan (WalnutHead) · v1.2.20
absolute story to remember till I die or even after death
- Zarino Fodera · v1.2.20
Top notch adventure game with an interesting story that has occasional serious moments but fun writing that ranges from slightly whimsical to outright parody of the genre, and a world that is much bigger than you think when you start. Lots of odd little nooks and crannies to explore. Worth every penny.
