Three Kingdoms: The Last Warlord is a turn-based lord-playing strategy game developed by the Chengdu Longyou Studio. The studio created this game world set in the period of the Three Kingdoms mainly based on people's opinions on other games set in that period. The game is very detailed in depicting the differences between various cities and also the abilities and features of the military officers. The game also applies an appealing battle system in which weather, landforms, and many other factors will influence the result of each battle.
The game is based on the famous Chinese historical novel by Luo Guanzhong (about A.D. 1330 - 1400).
I. Simple and graceful graphics finished by fine-lined drawing
The portrait of every character in the game is finished by fine-lined drawing with the same style as the picture-story books "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". All interfaces of the game are designed in a typical Chinese style.
II. The governing modes are easy to get started with:
There are easy governing modes in the game so that players can manage various affairs easily and spend more time enjoying its other facets. Due to the game's lord-playing mode, players do not need to pay much attention to cities besides their own capital. Instead, they can order prefects to govern other cities and later on give them commands when necessary.
III. A rich variety of gameplay and contents
Over 1,300 officers are available in the game (including those recorded in historical books and novels).
There are up to 30 attributes for officers.
Over 300 features of officers are available.
Over 500 kinds of verified precious items have been applied to the game world for players of different preferences to choose from.
Over 60 cities of different styles and 200 features of cities are available.
There are also abundant techs research and development items.
Its system of combat units contains three main kinds of combat units and about 20 kinds of special combat units.
Ultra abundant official positions.
Numerous simulated natural phenomena, incidents and disasters will highly represent the calamitous period of the Three Kingdoms.
Travelling around will trigger various incidents.
IV. The turn-based battle mode requires careful planning in deploying troops
Weather, landforms, and even the height of the battlefield will influence any battles in the game.
There's also a siege mechanism with a great gaming environment. There are various siege vehicles for players to storm castles and also defending their own castles.

Great Game, don’t give up on it. It can take a while to get the hang of it but once you do have fun!
Hooked. Lately I haven’t been able to play. When I open the app it doesn’t get past a screen. Hope they fix it soon.

Tutorial is basically useless, and half the text, at least in the “settings” menu, is still in Chinese. It might have ended up being ok, but with virtually no directions, or manual the learning curve was way too long. Definitely not worth $13.

Needs work
You can only play as certain forces in almost all scenarios. If you pick a force with a low amount of generals there is no way to win. On top of that hiring captured generals or free generals always has a very low chance with unpopular forces. You get forced to only defend without any chance of ever trying to attack and capture cities. I want to challenge myself using a unpopular/small force but it’s impossible. At least give the smaller forces a few more generals. Starting with three or four generals even if they are good you can’t even dream of winning. In other words if you are not shu, wu, wei, or another major force you will not enjoy the game. I played for five years in game as Han Xuan. I basically could only defend my city with no generals ever joining me and no free officers to hire. When free generals showed up. I always had a five percent chance or lower of hiring them. Stick to the KOEI versions of these games these guys have no idea how to make the game fair. Another issue is the combat is trash. The game limits you to six units per army unless you send reinforcements. That is fine but why not just let us march with ten units. This game is not worth the money guys you have been warned. Game is currently unplayable everything shows xxx in game…

Very Good - 1 issue on IOS
Issue on IOS is that red text that indicates inability to use a feature or execute a task does not give tool tip as to why. And many screens also do not have a help button to explain the function of a particular screen and the requirements for making the action happen.
I could see this as a reason folks would give up on what appears to be a very promising game.

Possible or impossible?
First off, this game is amazing! Definitely takes time to get used to the game play and strategy. I initially used cheat mode so I could explore without penalty. Took some time to figure stuff out, but once you do it’s a ton of fun. Had a question for the developers though. I was able to defeat soul of Xiang Yu, took some effort but it is possible. However, I don’t think it’s possible to defeat Year (main monster). If I’m limited to only 30 days, there a is no way to win before sky damage wipes me out. Is this what I should content with, or is there a strategy out there that makes it possible?
Keep up the great work and keep the updates coming! Love to pay up front for a quality game vs pay to win games

You are left to fend for yourself. This is a very expensive game. I was really looking forward to playing a “ Romancing” game again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! A total ripoff.

Pocket sized version of ROTK 7
This is hands down the best Romance of The Three Kingdoms game on the App Store currently. I have easily played this for weeks on end, but there are a few things that I think would greatly improve the game.
1. I like that random CPU/NPC characters can get married and or have kids, especially rulers. But it would make the game twice as cool and on the same level as the rest of the ROTK games if we could create historical officers, such as a child of Lu Bu, Cao Cao, etc.
2. There should be a function where you can call for a tournament of champions within your own kingdom. The winner would then receive a gift from you, the liege. Within this function could be a sub-function called something like “Tournament of Renown and Glory” wherein 10 combatants (or however many) are randomly generated - names, stats and all, and the winner becomes a new CPU/NPC officer for your force. An equal tournament should be held in debate style for potential diplomats/strategists/ministers/politicians/tacticians. I can tell you guys really care about your game, if any of these ideas sound good, I can only imagine how it could play out.
3. I haven’t quite mastered now the “College” aspect works, just that you get training stats every every in-game turns to improve the stats of any officer/child under the age of 16. A function where you could personally train an officer every few turns would be cool.
4. I like the seals that you can bestow on your generals, but I do miss the suspense of having to know which 5 generals to elect as your Tiger Generals once you gain the rank of King/Regent and sometimes Emperor. A function where you select 5 Prime Ministers/Viceroys would be a nice touch.
5. It’s probably asking for way too much work, but a scenario editor where you can edit the year, forces/troops amount/titles/food/gold/officers would be expansive.

Awesome Awesomeness!! I been waiting for a newer three kingdoms and low and behold it comes out on mobile!! This is a great game! Little confusing for instance I still have no idea what a legion is and played 4 hours straight if not longer last night but the idea is to click on things and figure it out! The spelling could also be corrected you guys have the right words but spelling is way off and also improve the UI a little bit polish it up sometimes when I’m reading something if it’s long the spelling will run to the line below it and cut off and look funny. But altogether I’m very pleased with my purchase and look forward to hours of gameplay. Good job!!
Looks like it could be great but so many gaps in explanation of how and what to actually do. The tutorials don’t explain everything and seem to be missing key aspects. Is there other manuals or info for this game outside the tutorial? If so, would like to see it because then maybe I’d play and understand better so I could rate better.

So, so great!
This game is exactly what you’re looking for, if you want a classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms experience with some cool features added on. It’s not perfect. For instance, I can’t seem to move my ruler to another city, other than by invasion. But, that’s so minor. There’s a fun tech tree, cities have there own unique sets of features/abilities that can be activated. Sages, wandering warriors, craftsmen, and merchants roam the map. Items can be crafted from materials you collect. And, it has lots of the classic ROTK features, too. In one of my first battles, a huge fire spread and engulfed enemies and friendly units, alike. Fantastic. Oh, yeah. You can create your own officers with their own, custom portraits, as well. It looks like the devs are making steady improvements, so it should get even better! Forget the other, flashier, pay to play garbage on the App Store related to Three Kingdoms. This is the one. It delivers.

A potential game but need more improvements
I have played this game for a week, and it feels amazing on both affair and fighting screens. However, there are lots of spelling errors, and sometimes, the word is broken down to another line, or mixed of both English and Chinese.
The technology effect should be made clearer instead of “turn on city-related features.”
Another thing that I still haven’t figured out is how to move the capital. With the current tutorial, it doesn’t show it, and if it is still not a feature in the game, I suggests to add it in.
Surprisingly deep game, a lot going on but feels very much in its setting. Playing on iPhone 5S and works very well. No issues.

Sending troops to battle.
Is it just me or when you try to send troops to battle, troops like armored troops and other special troops. Why does a black check mark show up and you cant send them to battle? Or the editors still working on it?

Exceptional game, poor user interface
This game is very good comparable to rotk series. Worth the few bucks to buy.
However the UI is not very user friendly and the game does lack tutorial for players.
However most of the game mechanics can be figured out after playing a few hours.
It’s really good for a mobile game and I hope to see more updates and fixes.

Don’t buy
I just got it and wish I got a refund. The game is very confusing. Some of the summary and text is in Chinese, not even sure what to do. Round one there’s no generals anywhere, nobody explains anything. I’ve played ROTK series on consoles and pc for years and have never gotten as confused as this game. Would pass and try to just play the original SNES ones.

Unable to play
Looks like it would be an amazing game. I own all the KOEI RT3K from original Nintendo to ps4. In the description, says it will work with my IPad iPad Air . But the graphics are glitched to the point it’s unable to play. So unless it’s a newer generation iPad, don’t purchase it. When attempting to play past the glitches, game will crash when you view a duel. Hard to understand the tutorial. Doesn’t explain some features such as how to recruit . But I may be missing it.
