I have played the board game version of this and thought this was a pretty good adaption but there are a few things that need fixing, like the gameplay moves slowly through other turns against the computer but does all the moving at once so you can't keep track of the game. Also, the setup is wrong, and the movement is kind of confusing. To other reviewers: this is the 1942 2nd Ed version not 1941 or 1940 so it doesn't have extra things like playing as Italy or France or IPC for technologies.

defense profile config does not work for me for some reason and I cannot create any new defense profiles nor reset any defense profiles. and Russia is apparently lobotomized in Japan and Germany just have the most big turbo brain ever because Russia just basically imploded itself. the moment it had the chance which was the start of the damn game and has been dead set on throwing all its units into the center of Russia with no effect. also Great Britain has just been stuck bombing France forever
- Sean Henke · v1.0.19
It was good for a while but it's not updated anymore and it is not the actual game rules. It has been adjusted to make the games longer and at the same time favors the axis as they win 80% of the time. I suggest not wasting your time and the aggravation of not actually being able to play the game as it should be.
- Sparky · v1.0.17
Not very playable on tablet. The zoom jumps around, you can't tell what moves the enemy is making or speed them up, and the units are arrandged haphazardly and differently from province to province.
- Michael Hicks · v1.0.19
horrible interface. nobody creating this seems to have tested any aspect of this out on mobile device.
- 3. Solstice Marana Legal · v1.0.19
great adaptation of the board game. Love this game!!
- Daniel Penny · v1.0.19
Not sophisticated enough as far as options and ai for the game goes. there's limited amounts of moves you can do to win, which makes the game very stale. It's difficult to see units a lot because of the zoom and the way units are shown on the map. Game now also will not load and says it needs an update to keep working
- Neil Bittong · v1.0.19
crashes a lot
- Joel Buncy · v1.0.17
The developers didn't read rules of game they adapted. Computer players don't need AA guns to shoot down your strategic bombers.
- A. The ist · v1.0.17
very good but I'm looking for a update to play we're only the allies can see allies force and axis can only see axis forces this is how me and my family play we set up 2 games in 2 rooms and have a few extra rules for moving but don't know how hard it would be to program.
- Michael Ackerman
A genuinely well-done digital adaptation of my all-time favorite board game. In my humble opinion, the in-game interface Beamdog has crafted here is the best I have seen anywhere (if any other players reading this disagree, I would encourage them to find a better one and share it with me so I can compare). The competitive player base and pre-programmed defense profiles make ranked play very accessible and fun. Love this game! Would pay big bucks for a 1940 Global adaptation
- Jordan Witte · v1.0.17
another great version of the game but I wish the AI was more difficult
- Daniel Whitten · v1.0.17
I want to love this game, but the core mechanics don't do it for me anymore. Sometimes the dice are cruel, some times they are kind. At a high enough skill level, the early dice decide who wins. That coupled with no variation at the start of every game turns this board game masterpiece into a tired chore of running battle calculators and straight gambling.
- Bill Wakefield
Best turn based game around by far. Needs to be updated to include new features and the Zombie variant, but otherwise it's perfect. Adjusting my rating down to 2 stars. Still an excellent game and the only strategy game I know that is cross-platform to iOS, but there have been no significant updates to the game in over 5 years. We need zombies. We need weapons development (and yes, I know this was from Classic 2nd Edition), but this game needs an update badly. Love it, but make it better.
- James Thomas · v1.0.17
I enjoy the game but everytime I get about halfway through a game and then I crashes telling me theres a rejection and failure to find my game or something and when I reload the game up my game is gone like it was deleted. Fix this issue and then the game might actually be playable and then could be fun
- Tylor Hensley · v1.0.17
I am so unbelievably sick of the rigged dice that I had to delete this game
- Dustin Walker
I cant get pass the sign in page nothing happens when I hit submit
- Giovanni Roman · v1.0.17
I am about to delete this broken game, the dice are rigged and have been since day one, nothing has changed. this is the single most aggravating game I have ever played. NOTHING like the actual board game!
- Dustin Walker
Edit: Reading the other reviews leads me to believe the game is abandoned! After buying a new phone i noticed the game has huge issues on the newer android versions. After loading a game (even in offline, against AI) the whole app freezes/runs incredibly slow. I can recommend the steam version though, great game and well implemented PC adaptation. Will change the review when fixed.
- Shoopsta · v1.0.17
Good game, but I wish it included the options from the original PC version that let you spend IPCs to research advanced weaponry. ALSO A PROBLEM IS....when you do a strategic bombing using only one bomber, the enemy AA Gun kills you 80% of the time. The statisticality of the dice in that situation is way jacked up and not realistic. It should roll a 1 only 1 out of 6 times, not 3/4 of the time. The dice rolls in the whole game feel manipulated and not a natural percentage.
- Tony Spicuglia · v1.0.17
the app works on my own tablet and looks good, I never pay for games but I love A&A board games so I did. but after many lost games where I got absolutely slammed, I did an experiment where I played two games so I could copy the computers moves as my own, and I still get slaughtered. the dice rolls are not balanced. I can go onto a battle way overpowered, and at best might kill one opponent for every three that I lose. meanwhile the computer waltzes across the map. not very fun at that point.
- matthew monsees · v1.0.17
Live it, but I do wish they had continued developing it. it's got some bugs, and there's so much potential here.
- Adam Brown · v1.0.17
great game, hope they make mobile versions of the other A&A games as well!
- T L · v1.0.17
grate game try it it's good better then the bord game
- amanda young · v1.0.17
Please don't believe most of the negative reviews. Ppl complaining about dice etc are just newbs. Yes the AI is bad. That's what multiplayer is for. Yes the game crashes vs the CPU. Shameful, but again, that's what multiplayer is for. I have my nitpicks but this is an easy 5 star for me.
- BoldWittyName · v1.0.17
Does not funtion
- Chris Lasher · v1.0.17
This game works great on PC and my Galaxy S25 Ultra. Unfortunately, it is extremely laggy to the point of unplayable on my Galaxy Tab S10 FE, despite the fact that it plays fine on the older Tab S9 FE.
- Bob Plummer · v1.0.17
i wish i could return this t. i love ve axis and allies but the controls are too clumsy and confusing and i am a veteran player. good try but the clumsiness if it all makes it unplayable for me.
- brent chase · v1.0.17
It lets industrial centers without anti aircraft batteries shoot down bombers. It did it to me 4 turns in a row strategic bombing Moscow while it didn't have an AA gun to do so. Tank units blitz ability also isn't universally applicable. You can blitz through as US or UK, & it's still German controlled. It's almost like the developers were unaware of the rules of the board game they were developing. I'd give this 0 stars if I could.
- A. The ist · v1.0.17
Really well done mobile game, works perfectly. I have played many games with friends and strangers online.
- AJ D · v1.0.17
In a game as USSR, I lost Moscow but gained Germany and I couldn't create any more units. That seems fundamentally wrong. Lost the game because of that.
- Michael Dvorchak · v1.0.17
love this game. can be tough depending on which county you choose
- Patrick Phillips · v1.0.17
unexplained poor tutorial waste of money
- kingslayer Nomad
it's a simple version of the board game.
- Something Clever · v1.0.17
please make more!!
- C K · v1.0.17
the app needs to be maintained but because of the app it makes this platform the best, bar none, way to play Axis and allies on the internet easily and quickly. my one wish would be to refine it and then add the anniversary version followed by more versions.
- Vincent Fantaci · v1.0.17
not what I expected. not a great game i love the board game. but this is way to complicated to much work. needs to be like world warfare.
- Richard Free
If you try to attack wake island with a fighter from Hawaii the game glitches and the plane is now stuck and you cant continue. Its a first round move so thats as far as you can play and the devs customer support link is broken. Online says the issue was fixed in 2019 but its still there.
- Brian B · v1.0.17
I've been waiting for this game to come out on mobile phones for years. I'm amazed they managed it personally and I think they've done a superb job. Overall excellent with some minor adjustments needed to Blitzkrieg / retreat just to make it clearer. Really good effort for a mobile app. Update 29/09/25 - it does crash and hang a lot as other uses have said. needs an update.
- Darryl Thomas · v1.0.17
literally cant even get past the initial name creation and agreements page. I hit sumbit and nothing happens. tried deleting and reinstalling. waiting on support for a resolution but so far... not great.
- Matthew Lucherini · v1.0.17
Works just like the Steam version, except the Offline version doesn't let you create the defense profiles. If you go online, you can create the defense profiles and then they will appear offline. Still only 4 of 5 stars because I want this fixed and also: 1) better computer player, 2) option to force computer to do KJF, Fin chuck, Med schuck, 70/30. 3) Some way to practice scenarios. Give ability to setup board and replay turns
- Eric Sperling · v1.0.17
love it but you can't roll for technological breaktroughs.
- Mike Kosmowski · v1.0.17
holy cow. I downloaded this app to my phone. and I can't move troops onto transports and off of transports. it's so freaking clunky. it's ridiculous. I just wasted $9.99 basically. don't bother
- Matt Morris · v1.0.17
getting errors on starting up the game where it says im offline but im not.
- John Adam · v1.0.17
I bought this game yesterday for online playing but game does not let me create online account. I installed on my tablet selected sign in with google account but cannot skip "complete your account". It seems I wasted my money...
- Halil Alaeddinoglu · v1.0.17
Was expecting better controls and game physics for $10.00. That said its not bad and I can see how they tried to make it a playable version of the board game, but it feels pathetic compared to Risk and others which are FREE to play.
- H8me clan vids · v1.0.17
This game Rocks. Easily my favorite. A couple things I would like to see: Markers for territory control. Also, a more organized look for the troops on a given territory. Some territories have opposing forces bleeding into enemy zones, overlap numbers, it's hard to read troop amounts when overlapping. Troop separation, in order to select a particular troop that is bunched together. The big movement arrows can be toned down too. Love this game.
- Robert Chenevert · v1.0.17
really good game but I wish that they had more options of games like 1941 the pacific theater or the European theater and would also like to be able to play music form other apps in the background for longer playing sessions but other than that it is a really well bult game just like the board game
- Dominic Beale · v1.0.17
I hate to harsh on this one since I have so many good memories of wasting hours on the tabletop game. But the broken dice/combat system ruins the fun. A&A always involves some surprises, but no one rolls that many 1's every battle of every round. I don't recommend buying. Edit July 2025: Still broken.
- M Callihoo · v1.0.17
Love the board games, this is a decent simulation to get a fix in a more time conscious way. The good: easy to find games, fairly intuitive to play, simple art style and faithful recreation of the game for the most part, also - no microtransactions or P2W elements. The bad: prone to the occasional crash but nowhere near as bad as some reviews make out, dice against AI are clearly loaded, AI isn't very intelligent, game is resource and battery hungry.
- bz2886 · v1.0.17
the gameplay is impressive. they've captured the board game experience pretty well. despite cramming the UI to a mobile screen, they managed to make it playable and fairly streamlined given the complexity. only big issues for me are 1. The inability to manually pick losses when defending in a singleplayer game 2. Broken text boxes making me unable to delete old games or input anything in the app. (less important than you'd think) it'd be nice to have a 1st edition A&A mode
- Damian Adams · v1.0.17
Limited scenarios. No Global. No World War 1. App is crashy. Fun game.
- Jay Lowe · v1.0.17
app constantly crashes and does not allow amphibious landings
