Excellent App. Have been playing this app for many years. It has never crashed or even wobbled. I have both android and iPhone apps. The game information is a wonderful part of the app, and has helped me improve my game tremendously. Here we are 2 years since my last review. Still an excellent app. I play most days and it never fails in any way. Absolutely love it.

Excellent

great gameplay, needs more teaching
- Kevin Sweeney · v4.8
this is the best backgammon out there. it has elo ratings for you and the computer and alot of stats. graphics are good to
- Larry Beane Jr. · v4.8
Yes, it feels like it cheats. It seems to get perfect rolls. Well, it doesn’t cheat, it's just really good. I put it on manual input and rolled physical dice, and on expert mode it still not only beat the snot out of me, but it still seemed to get perfect dice and I got lousy dice! Unless we live in the freaking matrix and it's an agent, it's not cheating. I have not completely ruled out the possibility that we live in the matrix, however.
- Ted May · v4.8
This is really good. A strong player. Easy to use.
- C B · v4.8
I enjoy the simplicity of this app, but it seems that the AI gets so many more doubles on its throws. I may be wrong, but it sure feels that way.
- Adrian Turner · v4.8
After playing this app for about 15 yrs & thousands of games, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern: the AI frequently escapes seemingly hopeless positions with exactly the roll it needs, while crucial doubles during races and bear-offs often favour the bot. Overall dice statistics don’t address this concern because they ignore the timing and value of the rolls. Many experienced players have raised the same issue. The game is excellent, but the dice behaviour in key moments deserves closer scrutiny.
- Ivan Jekov · v4.8
I play this game a lot and I really like the gameplay. The only thing that sucks is rolling the same rolls over and over during a game. Sometimes the computer and I will get the same roll three to fives times in a row or the same roll a bunch of times in a match. I think it has to do with evening out rolls but it still is frustrating. Otherwise a challenging game.
- Tony Horning · v4.8
Not a good app. When you increase the difficulty level you do not face a better opponent, simply an opponent that gets optimal roles of the dice more often than not.
- Aidan Kenny · v4.8
My BGNJ skill level is medium. I'm doing quite well. Over the last five years I've played 6,000 games. Regularly the computer opponent springs a surprise, sneaks up and wipes me off the board.
- Richard · v4.8
A very good backgammon app. It's good to know that the dice rolls are predetermined, although I do sometimes wonder if the app may sometimes offer a double. knowing what the next throw will be.
- Alan Hill · v4.8
great game,plays well, challenges you
- Mike H · v4.8
overall its a good app for the price.
- Michael Carr · v4.8
Really helps improve my game. I attack more and have learned when to double. Great wee App.
- Brenda Rafferty · v4.8
I enjoy playing against the expert computer and learning from their moves. I find it frustrating, however, when the dice unnaturally play favorites towards the computer. Could the developers please add an additional mode called: "Unfair". The rolls are "even" but the computer saves and uses rolls (ie. 2x 6's or 2x 5's) when it needs to get lucky. Meanwhile half my double 6's occur when either 1) I can't use all 4, or 2) I can't use any. Many games end with me thinking, "What's the point?"
- Cameron Stevenson · v4.8
if you're good at backgammon, you will hate this app. setting it to expert level just means that the computer gets better dice. basically any time the computer falls behind it. rolls the perfect set of doubles multiple times in a row
- glen urquhart · v4.8
Reinstalling after a long time, I am glad I bought this long ago. This one remains a very strong opponent, and is great for training bg skills.
- Michael Pienaar · v4.8
what a waste of money and time. thought if I paid maybe it would be decent, think again.
- Dallas Ostrom · v4.8
Will no longer run on my Samsung phone.l
- Owen Halpeny · v4.8
After playing over 3000 Hard level matches on this game, I realized it was time to provide this game a positive review. I was surprised to see all the reviewers that think the game is unfair. The Clifford Miller review from 12/29/21 says it better than I can, but the game is fair. Playing backgammon against a very good opponent sometimes feels unfair. I still feel that too. I even analyzed loads of my saved games using AI which confirmed that I get as many doubles as the computer.
- Wayne Wakeman · v4.8
Edit: Trust the reviewers, not the devs!!!!! Frak this game pisses me off!!! This is the most frustrating game ever. Edit #2: Trust the reviewers. E#3: I wonder how much they had to pay for the recent positive results. AI needs 2 doubles to win (even 4!!!), AI gets "lucky", I loose. BS!
- Nathan Ayres · v4.8
Hard pass. I've been aware of this app since it first appeared on the iOS app store back in the day. If you're looking to improve your backgammon game, this app won't help one iota. my mind cannot be changed.
- Warren Eloff · v4.8
great - has what i would want and love that it is a one time purchase. I learned that each match already has predetermined dice rolls for the AI, but your dice are completely random. So the computer can't use YOUR dice rolls to decide its own once the game begins. The developer should really add the ability to change the overall look of your board/UI - not just the stones. Whether that's colour options, or if we can create or upload our own theme.
- Sav Jonsa · v4.8
Seems to have a more fair role of dice than the last system I played. it would be good if auto off worked on any section of the board just not the last quadrant
- Max Wheeler · v4.8
Good app but not convinced the dice rolls are random. The computer relies on fortuitous dice rolls to win rather than skill or strategy. Eg. if the computer is on the bar and only the 3 point is free for it to return to the game, it will roll a 3. Then it will roll the exact numbers to knock out two of my single checkers on the way back.......more often than not.
- Chris Smith · v4.8
2026- I am still playing backgammon on this great app .2019- Still using this app another 2 years on great app Wrote in 2017 - Had this on ios now 3 years on android great stuff, a well made app that has improved in the 6 years I have used it. Thank you for this app.
- Glenn Dawson · v4.8
Awesome. Worth paying for.
- D Mac · v4.8
Fantastic alternative to XG. It has helped me improve my game by watching what the Expert AI does. I'd give it 5 stars if you could also see a luck outcome and if you could also customise your board and checkers.
- Lee Smith
AI is totally, unfairly and consistently biased towards the computer.
- mrhakimi · v4.8
Excellent game, no ads, play against computer or a friend. Hints, statistics, undo. We're in the UK and the rules vary very slightly from yours.
- Colin Tindal · v4.8
teaches backgammon well
- Albert Hasson · v4.8
strong play: excellent tutorial mode.
- Karl Horton · v4.8
The dice is dishonest. Stay away.
- Adam Fassi Fihri · v4.8
The dices are cheating!!!! Sometimes during a game the hint gives the obviously right move, and the analyzer later judge it as a fault! I said it wrong about cheating. I only wanted to say, that the hinted action is sometimes later analysed as wrong move.
- Rudolf Aigner · v4.8
great teacher
- Samir Shasha · v4.8
A suspiciously good player. Always gets the dice needed to land on you or get out of a spot. Not much fun playing when the dice are consistently in the other player's favour. Game interaction could be better too.
- James P · v4.8
great game, currently playing easy and medium and winning a good percentage but with a relatively high ER.The AI seems to roll a high amount of fortunate doubles when needed and limits my die numbers when l am heading for home. Still better than other games l have tried.
- Robert Baillie · v4.8
locks up during play. no response to touch screen. not realistic dice rolls, definitely biased against you. deleted app after a few hours of play, $8 bucks out the window
- Robert Gilmore
It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop.
- Andrew Cumming · v4.8
awful cheating as usual with a backgammon app, it's the only way it can realistically do what it does, please stop this stupid it's a random fair roll nonsense, the dice rolls are all pre rolled so the app knows what it's dice rolls are before the match even stats. imagine playing backgammon knowing what you future rolls are, best thing you can do is roll your own physical dice and then it's a different ballgame, a lot of people leaving reviews I think never played a real game before
- marcus darcy · v4.8
October 25 and the game is cheating worse than ever. takes the piss. Latest update has the made the game cheat even more. The developer is either deluded or dishonest when it comes to supposedly random dice. Never had a game been so frustrating as to want me to smash my device against the wall as it cheats If you want to learn to play backgammon, this is for you. If you're looking for an honest game, look for something else.
- Philip · v4.8
Terrible, AI computer cheats to win.
- Lucky Me
High quality play and plenty of coaching and review options. Wish one could resign though, and it was easier to exit the app on Android.
- Andrew Chadwick · v4.8
Best backgammon app. I've used this since I got my first Nook Color. Straightforward and no gimmicks.
- Faerie Thompson · v4.8
really nice interface
- Shelby Lindley
Terrific bg engine that is great for training. I set it to expert and use the hints to evaluate my decisions. I'm still a duffer but this definitely beats match up games.
- Hob Art · v4.8
The computer player very likely looks at future dice rolls, which is infuriating. Just start accepting all computer offered doubles and pay attention to the computer roll immediately after. The number of doubles rolled immediately after accepting a double cube defies all statistical probability.
- Matt Bossert · v4.8
Pre-determined games, I don't think there's an AI involved. The craziest moves are rewarded because the dice is in favor of the computer. unfortunately this is the best one so far I have played with.
- Pouyan H · v4.8
superb
