"Catan", the legendary strategy game provides gaming fun anytime, anywhere. True to the original game, you can compete with up to four players for the most settlements, the longest roads and the largest army. You can trade with each other and claim the precious land with all its resources. The game allows you to challenge other Catan fans online via cross-platform multiplayer to prove your strategy skills or play against the AI: Various computer opponents, each with their own individual characteristics, will prove themselves worthy competitors: the pirate Jean, who knows no compromise, Vincent the merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated, Sean the knight, who takes what is rightfully his... The popular Catan expansions "Seafarers", "Cities and Knights" and two new special scenarios are available as In-App purchases. The complete Seafarers expansion includes more than 10 additional scenarios with an extensive campaign. Become Harbormaster, discover new islands and extra game elements like ships, gold fields, treasures and pirates. Ahoy! The Cities and Knights expansion introduces various new gameplay mechanics that add even more variety to Catan. Invest new trade goods in city improvements to build one of the three metropolises of Catan – but beware of the barbarians attracted by Catan’s new wealth! You’ll need your best knights to fend them off! C&K contains a short campaign and 7 challenging maps. Exciting adventures await you in the two new scenarios "Enchanted Land" and "The Great Canal". Vanquish dragons and bag their treasures or build a canal to help barren grain fields bloom once more. Features: - Available languages: English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese - Original "Settlers of Catan" rule set - Update 4.0+: Synchronous online multiplayer games - Smart computer opponents with individual strategies - Scrollable game board including zoom option - Freely combinable game settings - Game statistics - Comprehensive tutorial - Seafarers LITE: New scenario "The 4 Islands" and two additional game variants - Cities and Knights LITE: Test the new expansion in the scenario “The first Island” - 3 different graphic sets to choose from ***** Catan FAQ: Question: An expansion seems gone after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring the device? Answer: Don’t worry! Your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu. Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it? Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter „CatanWarp*“ (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well. Question: Are dice rolls really random? Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game! ***** Questions or suggestions for improvements: Mail to ios@usm.de We are looking forward to your feedback! I love catan but this computer version cheats HARD. Every time finally get over 7 cards the next play will be a 7 while other bots will have 10 cards+ for multiple rounds. The bots will randomly have monopoly cards, 3-4 victory cards, and road building cards, while all you will ever pull is 1 victory card and knight cards. It’s rigged and not worth it. Definitely disappointed.
- Petting turtles · v4.8.2
I love the game of Catan but would not recommend playing against the AI. It is extremely unbalanced, the RNG seems highly rigged toward the AI. The AI will not trade with you, their tiles will be rolled 7 times before yours are. Every time a 7 is rolled the robber will go onto your tile regardless if you are losing heavily. If you use a knight to move the robber it will be moved right back onto your tile the next turn. Good luck winning because I can’t seem to figure it out.

The title says it all. Seriously.

Game keeps shutting down, can’t get a single game for 20 minutes. Garbage.
- Gerald w.B. · v4.8.2
I have spent a lot of time on this app because I love the board game so well. The free version has glitches so I bought the payback. I can’t even sign into that one and it’s switches languages. So I don’t even know what it’s telling me to do. There’s nowhere to change the language. And there’s nowhere to get help with technical difficulties.

Fine for scratching the Catan itch on-the-go or while passively watching something on TV. Seafarers and Cities & Knights are worthy expansions with various scenarios and maps to choose from. I will probably pay for and play all of them over time because the prices are reasonable and it helps pass the time; though, I do wish other expansions could be added (such as The Helpers). However, the AI has something very much to be desired here. The “stats” don’t seem to carry over to the actual game at all; you will quickly learn which bots are jerks and which are trying to play the game, and it has nothing to do with the stats that the game touts as a feature. Furthermore, they appear to unfairly target the human player; not necessarily because they are human, but because the CPU knows what resources the human player has and what cards they have, and because victory point cards are counted automatically they target the human player even if the victory point total is supposed to be hidden from them. On the note of the CPU programming, it was abundantly clear to me right away that the AI never takes any risks, regardless of supposed “skill level” (again, an issue with the “stats” not being applied in any tangible way). At least the digital console version features CPUs that will take the occasional risks on some trades. Bottom line: don’t expect this version of the game to meaningfully train you up on solid Catan play. It is simply too basic for that purpose. But if you want to play Catan to pass some time, it does, at least, provide you with an avenue to do so. Functional as it is, however, it’s hard to recommend it to anyone that loves Catan in any and all of its forms.

Because this game is pretty fun I liked it because when I’m stressed it helps me whine down that’s why I like this game very life and the name of it is Catan it is pretty fun I love this game so much that I prefer that your kid should use this app and I’ll give it five stars for it and also this game doesn’t have any ads that’s why I prefer your child having a game like this.
- Mel8989 · v4.8.2
The game is just like the board game Catan. It is enjoyable. AI players are reasonable and fair. There are interesting expansion maps with unique layouts for a new challenge. The game only allows for the four player version however. And it seems a 7 is rolled 40-50% of the time so there is constant robbing in every game. That is the one thing that doesn’t feel like the real game and should be tweaked in my opinion.
- spankatron · v4.8.2
This game could be awesome but the bad AI makes you want to throw your phone. Playing a friend online? It boots one of you every 5 minutes. Hard to connect to even play a game in the first place then you’ve got a good chance of the game vanishing. It says the dice are random but the AI consistently throws 7 after 7 after 7 after 7 and robs the human twice as much as other AI. AI builds roads to nowhere just to block human yet never develops their own game. AI will hoard development cards and just play against the human, never developing their own game. My last game - AI played every single development card, I played 0. More 7’s thrown than 6’s and 8’s put together. AI robbed human - not each other - almost every time. One game shouldn’t take two hours. I wish I didn’t start my day like this. I won the game but wanted to throw my phone against the wall. Fix this game. Fix your servers. Make random truly random. Make AI actually play, not just stall the human. Make it possible to find an online friend rather than trying for 20 minutes then booting the humans when the game starts. This game could be great - the bugs make it a turd.

- gate49 · v4.8.2
Do not buy this game unless you want to be frustrated. As others have said the targeting AI is horrible. If you are ahead in victory points The bots will roll a bunch of 7’s in a row then just keep stealing from you. Then they will hoard development cards and randomly win the game with 5 victory points. Just save your money fam!

Don’t waste your money. It is slow and worse made then the free catan universe
- bannaj · v4.8.2
I haven’t played in a long time but it’s not even enjoyable anymore as you are consistently targeted by the Robber and rolling of 7’s. I go rounds without even being able to make a play because resources are stolen every time you finally get any. Not fun!
- jackie414 · v4.8.2
It used to be a solid game. Ive played it for years. But you’ll want to put it down once you master the strategy. Let me tell you why: You’ll start changing out your bot opponents to make it challenging. Eventually you’ll master where to put your first settlements. Most games, you’ll start out leading, with 4 or 5 victory points. Once that happens, your dice rolls are gone. The other 3 bots will take turns rolling 7’s, rolling low odds throws over and over, collecting resources, and using knight cards to steal from you. Its nearly impossible to win, and its ridiculous to watch what happens because its unrealistic. You can try to change your strategy to outsmart the algorithm by buying up development cards to block them, but then they will just win traditionally. The developers need to fix this. Not to make it easy to win, but to mimic in-person gameplay. Nobody does a 3-way blockade against one player. Im uninstalling after almost 10 years. It sucks now.

- JeepersCreepers82 · v4.8.2
Pretty consistently my victory points are not counted. Seems like a pretty obvious bug that should have been addressed. Deleting game. Wish I could get a refund.
- OnlyClutch · v4.8.2
I’m writing this in the hopes that the developers read this. I love Catan, but the dice rolls are severely stacked against the player. There are better ways to make the tougher. Please make the dice rolls more fair. It’s unfair to me if I have a good setup to get thwarted by the dice rolls.
- Chrisoliver58 · v4.8.2

- MiaKhalifaa · v4.8.2
I downloaded the game, made an account, tried logging in, and it won’t let me sign in. I tried resetting the password and the email to reset the password won’t send. This app is a scam to get $5. How weird.
- PizzaTutt · v4.8.2
Awful. Don’t bite
- Brett4674 · v4.8.2
Every time I use a knight card to place to robber or roll a 7 and am asked to move the robber, the game crashes and I have to hard restart. I’m glad for the “continue game” option! Also, as others have mentioned, the computer opponents do tend to target me once I start doing “well.” I have never won a game on this app due to the targeting.
- Allnicknamesweretakenbruh · v4.8.2
All the complaints about dice rolls are true. I play the stacked version which is supposed to evenly distribute the rolls. It is still rigged. I keep playing because I’m smart enough to outwit the cheating AI sometimes. If I start getting an impossible amount of sevens or one number three times in a row I quit and start over.
- Michael B1108 · v4.8.2
I like playing this a lot. That said, there are flaws. It seems like they couldn’t make the original AI smart enough, so the AI will sometimes gang up on you strangely and take actions that only make sense if it “knows” things it shouldn’t. Also—the dice seem a little stacked against the player sometimes to compensate for the dumb AI and make the game more challenging. I could be delusional but it really seems like the dice odds of rolling a number once the robber is placed on the number is higher than natural.

- HecMs3 · v4.8.2
The app has a huge bug that I hope the developer will fix and I hope I’m not the only one, but I can’t play the classic Catan, I can only play the Cities & Knights version, anytime I try to play the classic versions the app immediately crashes

- Sktreee · v4.8.2
At first it was great, but after this last update, the 3 AI opponents and the game itself started playing against me- I have never seen so many knight cards and 7’s rolled one after the other until they took everyone of my cards. It rolled 12’s at least 5 times in one game and 5’s only once- guess who had which number. I’m not sure what you changed in this last update, but the game is no longer fun.
- AIcheats · v4.8.2
Good things: it’s a fun game and happy to be able to play solo but… The bad: Playing against the computer is always to the benefit of the computer. It would be so much more fun if the dice rolls were actually random. Make sure you pick the same numbers that the computer has because it highly favors the computer. It’s laughable how much this game favors the bots. Seven gets rolled just when you have too many cards, they always know all cards you need just to screw you over, etc. still fun, so it is what it is.
- fncjjcjdn · v4.8.2
I appreciate this app still existing. Thank you so much.
- JMlongname · v4.8.2
It’s insane how you ask for a fee for such a horribly made app. Stick to making board games.
- Jay B 96 · v4.8.2
Bought this one thinking it was the paid version of Catan Universe. It’s not. Its UI is clunky and not intuitive. Very dated and the game play is very limited. Don’t make the mistake I made. Shame on the developer for even having this on the store any longer.
- martoq · v4.8.2
I like playing this game over and over and over again. It’s fun, relaxing, and I enjoy the competitiveness that I get from it. However, I really wish they would make more boards. I play the same boards over and over and over again so much that it’s starting to get boring. Even though the numbers and the tiles change, I just wish they would make more boards to play more styles using especially cities and nights with sea fairies.
- Hi all gamers · v4.8.2
Single player of this game still works, even if the computer opponents will grind you into dust if you are just one or two points ahead of them. But online and campaign are completely useless since I assume the developer has abandoned any online server connection. Only get this game if you are just interested in playing by yourself and being pommeled mercilessly by the computer opponents.
- fygar · v4.8.2
This game feels like it was made 40 years ago. It doesn’t save your login information, quick match search is like shaving with a rock, you exit and you have to log in again, slow af, an absolute nightmare of design
- Komadori_Raiko · v4.8.2
Online play does not work. Custom local games rig the roles against the player and all of the bots team up against you. You can predict when a 7 is coming based on when you’re set up to have a good turn. The numbers you have cities on will only be rolled when the robber is on that number. The robber will almost always be on one of your numbers. The skill levels of the computers do not change when you increase the difficulty - the way the robber is placed and the rolls going against you is what changes. For one of the most popular board games out there right now I wish they had a better offering than this piece of junk. I would rather them have smarter computers that had AI or some other way of playing a smarter game, than just having the parts of the game that are supposed to be randomized skewed against the human player. Sadly, I have put hundreds of hours into this app because I love Catan but I just can’t take it any longer. The description should say “Trade, Build, Settle on this game sucking”
- Sklounst McBergs · v4.8.2
I genuinely love Catan and was excited to play it on the app. The gameplay itself is solid and it’s a great way to play without needing a group. However, the AI behavior seriously takes away from the experience. Any time you start doing well, the AI immediately turns on you. The robber is placed on you almost every time, and the AI players seem to constantly trade with each other in ways that conveniently give them exactly what they need. Meanwhile, you’re essentially locked out. One of the most frustrating patterns is when you have more than 7 cards and the robber is triggered. The AI will repeatedly use knight cards back-to-back, taking turns stealing from you. By the time it’s your turn again, you’ve lost everything and can’t make a move. It feels less like strategy and more like being targeted. On top of that, the AI aggressively hoards development cards. While you’re working to build roads, settlements, and cities, they’re doing all of that and stacking development cards. It’s incredibly frustrating to be 1–2 points away from winning, only for an AI player to suddenly reveal multiple victory point cards and win out of nowhere. If you lower the difficulty, this behavior isn’t as extreme, but then the game doesn’t feel competitive at all. There doesn’t seem to be a good middle ground. Overall, I enjoy the app and the core game is great, but the AI feels unfairly programmed to target the leading player in a way that makes the game more frustrating than fun.
- iheartcocacola · v4.8.2
Bots are relentless, never hit so many robbers and magically everyone knows I have 1 ore so they just steal from me until I have nothing
- Jesus hoobistank christ · v4.8.2
Overall the game is fine but the user interface strips all the fun from the game. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Cons: User interface is terrible. Use pop ups at the bottom of the screen rather than clicking through an extensive list. Let me roll the dive rather than auto roll. Trading interface is terrible. The images chosen for land tiles are very unclear. That should be simole. Pros: The computer players are acceptable. And the game is true to the board game
- jay w. Smith · v4.8.2
I used to really enjoy this game but it’s impossible to win now or even make any progress. The dice rolls seem to be rigged against the human player. The AI players always get the rolls they need and always have more than enough resources to do things, while I get one resource every few turns that get stolen by the AI. Happens no matter which AI players I use. It’s too frustrating to play. Please fix this!
