Controller required
Played this all the way through on PS4 and later PC and loved it. I’m not a phone gamer but after trying this with my Xbox controller I picked up a portable phone controller just to play it. It’s crazy how far we’ve come that such an advanced game can run smoothly on an iPhone 17 Pro, but here we are. Of course the resolution is a little lower than the phone’s, but it still runs smooth and looks great. I show it to to friends and they think I must be streaming it from somewhere else.

How long has this game been out and you haven’t resolved the save bug? Awesome game, runs ok given the hardware limitations, but you can’t update the game to fix the infuriating save bug? Just lazy while you sit back and take the money.

Would be a 5 star rating but..
It’s just so difficult with touch controls. I’ve played and beaten this game on PS4/PS5 several times - in fact I actually like it better than DS2 - but this game needs controller support or physical buttons.

Great game and worth every penny…
I literally bought a new iPad so I could play this game. Love this game. First time playing and it’s quite a masterpiece. Pros kill the cons. Some people say the game is slow but honestly I don’t see that. It has its moments that may feel a bit dragged out. Won’t be on your feet for long. You’ll see.
Had issues with saving and crashing in the beginning but worth getting through it. Definitely looking forward to many many hours of gameplay.
If you were hesitant about getting it like me… I’m here to say it’s a must have. Must try. It’s full of adventure, exploring, and action. Promise

Doesn’t load
Often times requires a restart to load properly after getting stuck on a black screen when first opening the game. After loading, it sometimes doesnt store saves properly and requires an active internet connection. Not useful when resuming a game during a flight. This is unfortunate for what is otherwise an impressive port.

Love this - serious save issue

This game is awesommmme
I love it this game I looove it. I can play it on the go and experience a very nice immersion of Hideo Kijoma’s story and world he’s made with others. I want to see death stranding 2 for iPhone 17 pro max soon still haven’t finished this one but will be one of the first people to buy the second game on iOS, I’m only giving this 4 stars though cuz it was very saddening to see that I needed iCloud storage to play it but it doesn’t matter now I’m playing it and am falling in love with the story that is grimily impressive and sad and also interesting hope they can put the second on iOS very amazing game but again the whole cross progression I don’t think is really needed I bought it on the phone to play it on the phone. I played it on Xbox game pass before buying it on this device and didn’t get far before selling the Xbox and I’m not even mad cuz I only play like three to two games but my golly even the games graphics on the 17 is beautiful hope they can succeed with DS2 on iOS the story is amazing and would kinda suck if I can’t play it on the go on my phone

Handheld Dream!
I have been a huge fan of Handheld gaming since the 1990’s, and it was an amazing ride from the Gameboy through the PlayStation Vita. Sadly, we hit a wall for the last decade. However, what Kojima and Apple have done here has brought it back in full force.
I have been playing this game on and off since launch on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I just picked up a Mac Mini M4, and have been continuing my journey there. I beat the game originally on PS4, and it was one of my favorite titles of the generation.
Just this month, I picked up something that brought the handheld gaming dream back into a full reality, and it has me playing this game every day at lunch, like I did with my handhelds all through school and my first decade at work.
The OhSnap MCON, turned my 15 Pro Max into the device that finally made my iPhone into a true Mobile AAA gaming machine!
Now I am back to reconnecting America, and making deliveries 24/7!
Death Stranding is a perfect game to hop into and make progress in short bursts once you are in the thick of it.
I will be continuing to play this game for years to come on future iPhones and Macs. I would highly recommend the game to anyone who loves building worlds, helping out others, and exploring beautiful vistas.
Remember, this is buy once play everywhere, so if you have an iPad, MacBook, Mac Mini, or Mac Studio, you can play when, and where you want.

The game is absolutely amazing. I’m giving it 3 stars because it stores the entire game in the iCloud backup causing it to eat 50GB of iCloud space. If it only stored save files I would rate it 5 stars.

Amazing Port Ruined by a Serious Save Bug
Death Stranding on iOS is an impressive technical achievement. The graphics and performance are surprisingly good, and it’s amazing to see a full console game running on a phone.
However, the save system has a serious bug. The game sometimes gets stuck on “Now Saving…” and never finishes. When this happens, I cannot save or exit normally and must force close the app, which causes lost progress. For a long story-driven game, this is extremely frustrating.
What makes this worse is that many players have been reporting the same issue online for a long time, yet it still has not been fixed. This is a premium game, and a reliable save system is a basic expectation.
I really want to recommend this version, but until the saving issue is addressed, it’s hard to justify the price. Please prioritize fixing this bug in a future update.

One of the best pieces of media ever made
This game is so absurdly good. It works surprisingly well as a mobile game, with the ability to do a few quick missions to gradually rank up your character and reputation with different bases in quick gameplay sessions. I put off playing the game for years, because the idea of a game about being a delivery man sounded so lame, even if it was from Hideo Kojima. Turns out, it is so much more than that. It has one of the most interesting worlds/settings of any piece of media I’ve experienced, an amazing story with great characters and plot twists, tense stealth and horror mechanics, and fun combat. Yes, you do mainly deliver cargo and set up Internet connections between a bunch of bases and bunkers, but it is the most engaging thing I’ve ever done in a video game. The way the gameplay evolves as you play and changes the ways you can make deliveries make it so addictive. Somehow, this is Hideo Kojima’s best game, and it plays surprisingly well on mobile. I am on a 16e, and the performance is really good. It feels like a pretty steady 30fps while on foot, with some drops while using vehicles, but nothing annoying. The more cinematic boss battles with lots of tar and BTs got pretty choppy, but it never affected gameplay or got in the way of the fun I was having. Easily the best thing you could possibly buy on the App Store.

All Fixed!!!!
After incredible frustration of only being able to plat 5-10 mins before the save bug would force me to restart, the new update with a iphone reboot seems to have fixed this incredibly annoying issue. played 90mins no save problem.
I had the problem with 100’s of gigs available on icloud, so it wasn’t a space issue. just glad its fixed cuz its an awesome game on console, should be here too.

Freezing when saving

Game Breaking Bug

Love the game, it does not save
I’ve loved this game since it released. Excited to play it and after 5 hours I leave the game and return there is no save. There is no option to manually save. I don’t understand why this game refuses to save even when the icon indicates save.

Downloading this was a nightmare
M1 Mac Mini, Base Spec
The game runs fine but downloading it was horrible on MacOS 26, on MacOS 15 it downloaded fine, and it could’ve been my storage, but I did have over 100gb free for the game to download, so I had to factory reset my Mac to download it properly, afterwards I was able to download it and play it and I had no issues after that.

Относительно не требовательная по современным меркам игра на айфоне превращается мыло с крайне низким фпс. Не совсем понятен смысл этой игры на телефон. Вроде как «чтобы убить время», но для этого нужно иметь при себе геймпад каждый раз, когда где-то в дороге вы захотите поиграть. Для многих может стать сюрпризом также и окончательный вес игры. Но глобально дольше часа вы в это не поиграете: картинка невероятно мылится, кадры прыгают, а телефон, соотвественно нагревается. Стоила бы игра рублей 100-200 (как она кстати стоит в стиме на скидках) - мб было бы и норм, но 2 тысяч она явно не стоит. По итогу игре можно поставить 2 звезды чисто из-за максимально кривого порта, который даже настроек графики в себе не содержит🤡

Game crashes a lot due to saving issue. Despite clearing a lot of memory on my phone and having the latest IOS update it continues to crash due to saving. Saving icon will continue to spin and cause the game to crash. And that after clearing all apps and restarting the phone as well.

Soooo good
Running this on a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 16 core, 16gb ram, with a 34” widescreen curved Alienware AW3425DWM WQHD monitor w/ 180ghz refresh. I’m using a usbc-to-displayport cable to get the highest performance I can (noticeably better than the macbook’s onboard HDMI can do). I honestly thought the M1 would struggle, but this setup works so much better than I expected. I’ve never gamed on my Mac but now I’m completely rethinking that. With my PS4 game controller, it’s fantastic.
And the game? Incredible. My favorite games are open world (RDR2 is the goat), so I can’t believe I didn’t play this before now. The graphics, the story, the acting, the gameplay is all top notch and so different than anything else I’ve played. Immersive af. At the current price it is a no-brainer.

Needs actual controller support
Hands down great game, but you really need an actual controller to play this, unless you want to try to play through a screen full of buttons. Luckily I have a controller, but the game loses connection with it whenever there is a cut scene, which is frequent. I have checked everything and it is not my phone losing connection to the controller. The problem lies with the game.

I LOVE IT
Played this game on PS5 and loved it. But honestly, this game feels like it was designed to be played anywhere at anytime. I am close to level 300 on the phone because I can play it at anytime. The social aspect of building and creating things that could help others feels better when I play from my phone. I really hope they port Death Stranding 2 sometime in the near future. Will pay whatever it costs because playing this on the phone has solidified it as one of my favorite games of all time. Please please put DS2 on the App Store.
The graphics are not PS5 level but on the iPhone screen it still looks stunning. You wont be disappointed.

Save bug needs fixing
Auto-save (and sometimes manual save) still gets stuck, meaning you need to kill and restart the game every time it happens. Gets worse as the game moves on. Started playing today a half hour ago and took a break after my fourth reset to write this review.

Always crashes
The game is great, but it is barely playable because of bugs. Sometimes save files isn’t available till I restart the game. It also crashes every 30 minutes.
There are another problems too, for instance text is very small and in barely visible on my iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Don’t recommend if you want to play it on iOS devices.

Please fix the Save bug!!!
This game is great on iOS other than the frequent bug where the “saving game” doesn’t complete successfully and any further progress is lost until you restart the game.
It’s an intermittent bug that that occurs with auto-saving or manual saving.
When a game costs this much you should continue to at least continue to support it with major bug fixes like this. It makes me hesitant to buy any more of these expensive console port games

Changing to one star… game is now completely unplayable because of the save bug. $40 wasted. This is needs to be fixed. Ridiculous that the developer is not fixing this!

Showing “now saving” then crashing
The game itself is super good
Showing the innovation of apple of launching AAA games to iPhone improving apple gaming but in the game sometimes when i make a lot of progress and the progress is about to end the game shows “now saving” for like 50 seconds or 1 minute then the game crashes which frustrates me a lot because there are some hard missions too which is very difficult to do. When the game crashes it drives me to the very start of the progress.

Unacceptable save bug
Constantly losing progress due to save bug. Had to delete and reinstall at one point. There are many cases I complete a mission but lose progress due to save bug.
Is this an adventure and explore game? A shoot 'em up game or a scary where are they game? When I carry something by hand, why does it drop after a few seconds? Why doesn't he just keep holding it? Why do I sometimes have to click AND hold and other times not in inventory selection? How do I recharge a skeleton suit thing? The game is complicated and confusing. Just friggin weird and don't understand half of it.

Crashes and glitches
While I like the game itself the iOS port is so buggy and glitchy that I’m giving up. Between the notorious “now saving” bug and frequent crashes/freezes I spend more time force-quitting the app and restarting than I do actually playing the game. Very frustrating!

Game freezes at “now saving”.
Randomly freezes on both my MacBook and my iPhone. Spent hours communicating with 505 Games support over a year ago and it still hasn’t been fixed, wiped and reinstalled MacOS, still didn’t work, 505 Support blamed Apple. Contacted Apple via Feedback Assistant and my ticket has been open for over a year. This will probably never be fixed, so save your money if you want anything more than a glorified benchmark.
