But the peace they have long enjoyed is no more. Demon hosts summoned forth from the darkness by the fallen High Priest Hargon have brought the land to the brink of ruin once again. First thing out of the way: As a standalone game, five stars. This review is solely in comparison to the original NES version. The game is much more modern feeling, and the original plot is un-obscured in NES because of Nintendo of America's censorship of Hargon being a malicious priest. The spell names are much worse, another person described them like sounding like pokemon moves, and it also doesn't have a bag like olother DQ games, even SNES ones. Also 500char limit on reviews

I loved this game since I first got my hands on it as a child back in the day, this version can be kinda infuriating to get started because there is a high attack rate and it takes a little bit to get the other two members of the party but it is worth it to push through tho I do wish the balance was more inline with the original
- Kristopher Coleman · v1.1.2
absolutely rubbish its not a remake dont buy
- tagvihan · v1.1.2
Great Port!
- RuneVeil · v1.1.1
by scale of gameplay, content and complexity it barely compares to 1, its so much more gaming for the relative price. i played dq8 first, and this was recognisable enough to set off nostalgia for it
- Ophelia Gibson · v1.1.1
No matter how hard I've tried Playing this Game - 3 Times, I Couldn't Complete It, cause I Never was Able to "FIND: The Key for Opening Red Doors. TOTAL WASTE OF: MONEY, TIME, EFFORT!!!!!!
- Dorothy Peterson
Not super long, but fun. The music is great.
- Matt Remorenko · v1.1.1
dragon quest doesn't miss. yes this is one of the hardest dq games but the story of its creation would explain. though it's still so great and this is the definitive way to play it. please square Enix bring dragon quest ix and dragon quest monster joker 2 to the play store i would so buy them. and the price for these games are so fair! fair and honest! Nintendo could never 😤 15$ for dragon quest v and vi??? such a tremendous deal thank you square enix
- A, mason R · v1.1.1
no cloud save is why this is getting 1 star. I like the game, I do not like square dropping the cloud save from this. I got a new phone and I'm going to have to start over . yes, I could do some manual steps. I shouldn't have to
- C Buckley · v1.1.1
I had fun with it.
- John Baptist · v1.1.1
A Winner!
- RPG Master · v1.1.1
10 inventory slots and 3 of those are your gear. I realize this is a old game and that's just how it was but being it's 2025 and people are remaking games you have the option for quality of life changes that nobody would dislike. why not 20 inventory slots? or at least stack the same items?! you can carry 7 individual healing herbs. in a region that monsters inflict poison. every battle you get poisoned and remember the 7 slots are all you get.
- Thomas W. (TheBroodingTom) · v1.1.1
good
- Cliff Mitchell · v1.1.1
I'm Interested In RPG thanks
- Lee Black Flames · v1.1.1
it was amazing playing through on a classic from my childhood. Great port and the quick save makes the game more forgiving
- Edward Sampson · v1.1.1
I wish the graphics were more like DQ1 & 3. For whatever reason, DR2 looks like the graphics are simplified or cartoonie, and doesn't have the same feel compared to 1 and 3. Other than that, it's great.

Great God space thought....777 Blindside
- Joseph Packard · v1.1.1
A+
- Logan McGlothlin
Every 10 steps I have to encounter enemies. I'm a long time player of jrpgs but nogame has such excessive grinding. Please fix it by reducing enemy encounters.
- Imran Huda · v1.1.1
It's so good, I'd recommend starting here but I don't think you'd appreciate it without playing the first one.
- C. C. Farts · v1.1.1
Great upgrade from the first one!
- Ryan Tenney · v1.1.1
I'm giving it a 5 star review due to it being a great remake that is true to the original. The touch screen interface works nicely considering the source material. There are some nice quality of life improvements such as 'hidden' items flickering so they are easier to find. The echo flute was probably the hardest item for me to find. The retranslation wasn't the best. I don't recall the original having such obtuse language. However, it was fun to revisit this game from my childhood!
- Michael Farinha · v1.1.1
I enjoyed it
- Christeena Snyder
i miss the ancient relic dragon warrior two, but dragon quest two is pretty much the same thing. thank you for recreating it!
- greg young · v1.1.1

- Corveon Dukes · v1.1.1
Awesome
- THOMAS STEWART · v1.1.1
Good game, but impossible to transfer your save files to a new device.
- Ian Vanpipperzele · v1.1.1
After the success of the first Dragon Quest game Enix experimented with character development. Your two side characters have unique skills and are there to assist you on your quest to save the Kingdom from Hargon.
- Al Logan
Good RPG but the game you play on this game is good for nothing you can't win anything on it .
- patricia nelson · v1.1.0
Looks great. Sounds great. Is there anyway to speed the gameplay up though? I feel the level grinding would be much better if I could set the game to a much faster speed.
- Brian McIntyre · v1.1.0
I'll like it to play the game backbone controller please... I just bought it can u up date up to it compatible with the controller please
- JgWetworth420 · v1.1.0
Brings back old and fun memories from 30 years ago.
- Mikey B · v1.1.0
Good memories
- Bruno Silva
In the middle of playing this: I beat DQ1 and I loved Dragon Warrior Monsters on the GameBoy Color (GBC)!
- Christian Leu · v1.1.0
I can't think of another game that leaps so much above it's direct predecessor without skipping a generation of console. I never played DQ2, I was always a Sega kid, so I just wanted a turn-based RPG. This was absolutely cracking. It was really nice not being waypointed everywhere and just having a pipe about. It's got a proper beginning-middle-end structure that games these days can't always manage to construct. Excellent value for money too. I paid £5 and got about 40 hours out of this.
- Simon Jones · v1.1.0
Loved it!
- Sheri Vondenberg
Чудовий спосіб торкнутися історії!
- Святослав Вількович · v1.1.0
A good game
- Luis Saucedo · v1.1.0
Prince Cannock will not show up, I've been back and forth in the spring multiple times then checked town. I am not going to waste any more time on this glitchy game.
- Joseph Kim
Needs speed up function and back up your saves so can have saves even when deleted game to reinstall and continue later
- mitch · v1.1.0
Cool
- war disgaea (night elf blade)
ichiban had a point
- Thomas Baughman · v1.1.0
I played the original long ago loved it but never finished it. Got this remake on android a long while back thinking I'll finally beat it. The encounter rate is WAY TOOO HIGH! I can't take more than 3 steps anywhere without an encounter and that is on plain ground.. if I walk into forested areas/hills the encounter rate is almost every single step!! Why? This is absolutely ridiculous the encounter rate was no where near this in the original.. EDIT: I can't deal with this encounter rate. deleted!
- GrimMcReefer · v1.1.0
It's not as fluid as Dragon Quest 1 so far. The number of encounters is overbearing.
- Josh LaMott · v1.1.0
I want a refund this game sucks
- Nolan Lunt
*Please fix the music.* For the Pixel 6, the music is choppy for both dragon quest 1 and 2. Normal gameplay sounds seem to be unaffected for both games. Besides the music issue the game is perfect.
- Joe P · v1.1.0
Great build on the original. Solid 4 stars with plenty of lore and worlds to explore. 1 star off because battles happen ALL the time. Every 3 or 4 steps you bump into monsters. This is twice as often as in the original or #3.
- Derek Jefferson · v1.1.0
The reason i gave 3 stars ,Disappointed. This version is made super easy you don't realy need to lvl much or carry many antidotes like the old version ! monsters don't hit hard .other than that it's fine
- zoril · v1.1.0
Game has serious audio distortion problems on Google Pixel.
- Skylar Heys
I dont think this game holds up, grateful for what it eventually lead to, but this is just too archaic to really enjoy.
- Duane Kinney
It took an already fun and charming game and added a lot of needed quality of life improvements! An absolute classic, but newcomers should use maps for dungeon ease.
- D J · v1.1.0
App crashes even though you could run it on a digimon and the remaster has some awful, inexplicable changes. Do yourself a favour and play the original.
- Myles Drysdale · v1.1.0
