Grammar that kids actually beg to do. Designed for iPad. Welcome to Grammar Quest — a world where grammar IS the game. Choose your Alphabeast starter, land at a handcrafted pixel-art island, and battle challengers by answering grammar questions drawn directly from your country's curriculum. Get the answer right? Your beast unleashes Verb Rush or Punctuation Pulse. Wrong? A friendly tutor explains why — then you try again. It looks like an adventure game. It teaches like a private tutor. It's both. FREE TO PLAY Download free. Try the whole of Year 1 with no limits — every concept, every battle, every town. Three sample battles per higher year so you can taste-test anything. ONE-TIME UNLOCK — $9.99 Unlock the entire game forever. No subscriptions. No ads. No data tracking. "Inverted commas", "noun phrases", British spelling throughout. • NEW ZEALAND — The New Zealand Curriculum. New Entrant through Y9, Levels 1 through 5. Commonwealth spelling. EARLY LEARNER VOICE PACK (Prep / Kindy / Reception through Year 2) Beautifully recorded human narration reads every question, every word card, every story prompt aloud. Built for kids who are still building reading fluency — so they can play, learn and progress before they can read every word on their own. WHY IT WORKS Children practise what they see at school every day, but with gamification. Every wrong answer becomes a teaching moment, not a punishment. The challenge curve mirrors the curriculum — so by the time a Year 3 student finishes the Year 3 islands, they've practised every grammar concept their teacher will test that year. 13 QUESTION STYLES Multiple choice, sort, build, fix, fill the blank, true/false, sentence transform, passage questions, sentence combining, word builder, match, spot the error, odd one out. Variety keeps it fresh. Finish all 20 towns? Now you get a party. NEW - THE BIG CELEBRATION. Restore every one of a year's 20 towns and the game finally throws you the send-off you earned: confetti, a golden trophy, and your run's headline stats - towns restored, Alphabeasts collected, and mastery. Finish EVERY year and the crown comes out for a Champion of the Archipelago finale. It's the moment the whole quest builds to, so we made it feel like one. Happy questing!
Matching, music, and thanks to Olivia! FIXED: two-of-a-kind matches. Some questions had two correct answers that were the SAME (two "past" verb groups, two "is running" subjects), but the game would only let you connect one - it kept swapping them like a cat knocking things off a shelf. Now every match connects, even the identical twins. Huge thanks to Olivia for spotting this and helping fix it like an absolute superstar! NEW: fresh battle music! Nine brand-new 8-bit chiptune tracks now power the beast battles, so the fights feel as epic as they should. NEW: rainbow match lines - each connection gets its own colour, so you can tell which line goes where. FIXED: no more deja-vu - you won't get the same question twice in one battle. NEW: your team, sorted by level (strongest first) in the battle picker. FRESHER BANTER: a big pile of new (gloriously groan-worthy) grammar puns between turns. Plus a map fix on Lighthouse Isle so you can stroll the whole beach. Happy questing!
Battle facing fix Some Alphabeasts were facing away from their opponent during battles - looking off to the side instead of at the challenger in front of them. Every fighter now squares up the right way. Thanks for playing Grammar Quest!
Prep just got four times bigger! A LOT MORE QUESTIONS. Every one of Prep's twenty towns went from 6 questions to 25 - that's 500 in all. Clap out kangaroo, elephant and butterfly instead of the same three words. Hunt blends from /st/ all the way to /fr/. Rhyme your way through cake, box, hen and duck. No more meeting the same question twice in one battle. AND ALL OF IT IS VOICED. Every single new Prep question is read aloud, so pre-readers can play the whole level on their own. YOUR ALPHABEASTS STOP RUNNING AWAY. Catch rates are up across every rarity - winning a battle now usually means a new friend for the collection, not a goodbye. EVERYONE'S FACING THE RIGHT WAY. Some Alphabeasts were gazing off into the distance mid-battle instead of at their opponent. Fixed. A FEW QUIET CORNERS GOT THEIR VOICE BACK. Quotation marks, brackets and dashes were silent in the punctuation towns - they now say their names out loud. Happy questing!
