Really a full disappointment! The game doesn't let you skip the tutorial or log in your account before launching the game so that you won't waste time with the intro each time you install the game. I've playing tutorial for 30min and couldn't log in my previous account so I could skip to where I left before. Its s 4X game, why the hell a 30min tutorial is a must? I deleted the game.

Essentially, this is the only 'job' where you need to pay the employer. Regardless of what they say, this game is massively pay to play, and I mean thousands if you want to play competitively. If you want to play free, you need to spend a lot of time grinding your castle, to be nothing more than a farm or support troops for the big spenders. Events are too boring and repetitive. The only good thing keeping people in the game is building bonds with other players. Ad's are nothing like the game.

A perspective from a free to play player

I have been playing GOG for almost 4 years now and I defiantly think this is one of the games I’ve played the longest out of all of the ones I’ve played. I’ve managed to reach around 7.5 Billion power, Castle 45, and 8m t13 troops, without ever spending a penny on this game despite others saying f2p was impossible. Although it is exorbitantly fun, I do have to say the f2p play style is different from others. I was definatly behind for the first few months of my kingdom but it slowly worked itself out, I now rank 35 in power. If anyone is reading this and need f2p tips here are some. 1. Join a top 2 kingdom alliance, as a weaker member of a kingdom for the first few months we are very subject to attacks from credit card abusers, you will need protection and usually a alliance name will give that. 2. Focus on core power not temporary power, don’t spend resources making millions of troops in lower categories as you will quickly replace them by the next level, only do so once you have reached T12-T14 troops. Focus on equipment power, weapons power, coat of arms power, any guard power. 3. Collect gold, more often than enough we don’t have the billions of resources to upgrade our castles, you will eventually need to spend gold to fill these spots. It’s not hard to collect it just takes time, I currently have about 200k and I’ve peaked around 450k. 4. Do events, buying every possible resource from the shops is so, so necessary. You will use almost every item at least once along your time and we don’t buy shop packs so this kinda makes up for it. 5. Important: make side accounts, this is a super common practice among others and although I’ve never done it, it’s definatly a thing you should do, you farm resources faster in the early game with chests so then you can give them to your main to upgrade faster. 6. Last and possibly most important, keep all your bars full, always have something upgrading, always have research going, always be training troops, this game is super similar to Clash of Clans and that’s also how you play that game. I really hope the developers don’t do to much P2W because I do like this game a lot. -Uen_, K842

For big spenders, but addictive

It’s an addictive game. Kind of fun. You will find out soon, who are the big spenders and who isn’t. I throw a couple bucks here and there, but can’t compete with the people that spend $20-1000 a week. Yes, there are people that mainly buy max level c50. Lots of bullies and immoral people. Find a somewhat peaceful kingdom. Will still be drama, which is unavoidable in any mmorpg. Somehow, the game just keeps interesting enough to keep playing. Game help is a complete joke, and they will not admit when they are wrong. Regular updates, mainly to make them money, by adding new tier equipment. The updates are really just for them to make money. You know, if you are a non spender or little spender, when there is a new tier coming. Basically you start getting and upgrading the top tier stuff decently, then boom, new tier for the big spenders. Rinse and repeat. There is some strategy, and some subtle mechanics that help us little fish compete, since many of the big spenders don’t really spend the time to learn the true game mechanics. It’s better than most of this genre that I have played over the years. Their strong point is constant events, which help keep the game a bit refreshed, and if you put in the time, can slowly bridge the gap between you no the whales.

Ok to pass the time of day, just don’t spend money.

Been playing around 7 years. From the beginning you needed big money to compete successfully. Have tried different kingdoms and on my own or in a clan. The result is the same. If you have a few powerful players they will carry you. I have one developed castle and six farms. But you will never be competitive without spending lots of money, and I mean in the thousands. The other cost is time. I moved to a farm clan so I still see some action but not getting zeroed every every event. Best advice, find a clan, stay with one you like the players, and don’t take it seriously. And don’t spend money! You have been warned.

Not here for the game

I’ve played this game for 8 years. I started playing when I got cancer and needed something to occupy my mind. It is the same formula as a wide variety of clicks games. Starting in a new kingdom was wild. Getting placed in an alliance. Changing alliances and chasing power. Avoiding bullies is impossible. Many communication issues are created by the translation device. I migrated to a peaceful kingdom with a few big spenders and really enjoyed playing from a position of power. The big spenders left the game due to the war in Ukraine. And we have been relegated to trying for NAP every event. It really takes away from the enjoyment aspect of the game. I’m a C50 with reasonable stats but cannot stand up to the spenders. GOG has done nothing to level the playing field for weaker players. It’s all about money for them. One week you can be on top then they release new levels of equipment and if you don’t spend you are on bottom. The reason I stay on the game are the people I’ve met and made friends with on here. We are a true family. The majority of our conversations are personal friendly not game related questions. We are thinking of going to a large kingdom with a mega spender because it’s all we can afford. To go to a smaller kingdom the price is ridiculous. GoG needs to figure out a way to make the game more exciting rather than just reskinning the same events over and over. Possibly a random weapon any level castle can find while mining that will temporarily give them the same stats as the highest level of competition in that weeks events. This way you bring smaller castles to the forefront and make them important. You have to do something or the kingdoms will continue to die.

Fun Game Terrible Support

Each time I discovered a glitch in the game I’d report it. First support would ask for a detailed analysis and screenshots. Then they would ask for more information and additional photos. Finally they would basically say you’re making this up and request an online recording of the issue. After having this happen several times I just quit reporting things and learned to live with the glitches. Then I ordered two packages with close to 1k of 60 minute troop speedups. I was attempting to advance my troops from Grade 10 to Grade 11. I used one or two speedups and the rest vanished. I was ignorant. I contacted support again. And just like the past, no help, just do this and get me that. After 3 attempts I contacted Apple support and had the missing purchases cancelled. Then that woke someone up. They absorbed my monthly subscription of 20$ plus said any purchases in the future would be absorbed. I guess for pain and suffering? Half the game is advertising and money grabs. Plus the odds of getting the item you want is worse than Mega Millions or Powerball. So instead of answering my inquiries they go ballistic and lose a player who hadn’t missed a day in 4-5 months, $20 monthly subscription plus additional monthly purchases of between $15-$50 (They lose $35-$70 a month or $420-840 yearly). Game- between 4-5 stars Support- What support? Maybe a negative 10?

Memory hog, most expensive game I have played

This game started like a fun place to meet people from all over and build alliances, completing simple tasks and, once every couple of weeks, fight with other kingdoms to earn rewards to keep on growing. But the developers are greedy and, in order to remain competitive, be prepared to pocket out $300-400/month. You can play for free but, as we all know, these games are full of bullies whose main goal is to beat up on others to demonstrate their superiority. It is obvious that the big dogs in this game have either spent many thousands to reach the pinnacle, have hacked the game, or are employees of the developer trying to push the envelope. I suspect it is a combination of all three. Furthermore, I started playing this game in an iPad with 32 GB RAM. It came a point in which the game was hogging roughly 10 GB just by itself. I upgraded to this iPad Pro and reinstalled it from scratch. Guess what: the game now takes about 1.8 GB. Which suggests that upgrades simply pile up, not replace previous installs. So, if you plan to play long term, be prepared to have a nice sum in the bank or some device with 265 GB RAM. It is not surprising that many leave the game. Why haven’t I left? because I made some pretty good friends along the way and I thoroughly enjoy their company and our “fireside” chats.

Run away from this money pit

Gog is a money grab. To play for free is something you can do but it is next to impossible to compete. To be relevant in the game you must spend 10’s of thousands of dollars. They constantly are updating the game with new things which cost money to get them quickly. The number of events that they put out to spend on are numerous every single week. Some events are exclusive to spending such as the dragon event for the tormentor. Plus many times with the new things they introduce such as new weapons or gear etc, they always cancel out the old making all the money you spent on upgrading the previous stuff irrelevant. So if you don’t spend on the newest stuff then you quickly become weak and your money becomes wasted. Before you know it you have invested so much money in this game it sickens you. Trolls are everywhere in this game and they have no problem ruining something that is supposed to be fun. GoG does nothing about trolls or bots people run to cheat and get things without even playing. I honestly wish I would have never downloaded this game as it is a huge financial burden. Be very aware of what you are getting into if you download and decide to play. I do not recommend this game. Run away from this money pit.

Bad math

This is a good game to play and you can do okay without spending a lot of money. They try to make it interesting with different activities in the game. The only problem I have is that they don’t seem to understand math. Couple of examples: some rewards have what looks like multipliers (1000 x56) which to me means I get 56000 but to them I get 1056. Another example, you can use items to increase your army’s size by 10%. To me that means if I could attack normally with 500,000 then using this feature would let me attack with 550,000 but the game only allows me to use 512,000. Other than that I really like the game.

I absolutely love this game, all the features & fun special events & the community of people! BUT, I genuinely hope they keep things where everyone can play. I used to play Mobile Strike & it was so fun, same game concept, very similar & it was getting big! But then they got greedy, you couldn’t play unless you poured money into the game & as soon as you bought something or reached a certain level BOOM new packs with upgrades would come out making everything you just bought useless. Needless to say, that game is a dead zone now, everyone left & it was so sad saying goodbye to everyone. Im praying this game doesn’t do that. Please please keep up the good work! So creative and actually listen to the players, bugs are fixed impeccably fast AND we get rewarded for the bugs & mistakes. We don’t get much joy in life anymore as everything has gotten so outrageously expensive & unattainable for most of us so thank you again for keeping this game where all of us can play if we just put the time & dedication in even if we can’t spend or can’t spend very often. Giving us all opportunities to earn cool guards, pets & now there is something with mythical creatures through special events is so appreciated. As far as just starting the game, the pace is fairly quick, if you have any knowledge about games like this pages is fairly simple. Save speed IPs for large time blocks, forage when offline, upgrade everything as high as you can. Always train, research and upgrade-simple progress on NO TIME.
