Really terrible update cycle
pretty much guaranteed when you drive or walk a long way to get a portal and the service is terrible, the app will force you to re login and do an app update so your time and effort to get to a portal is a complete waste of time. stupidest app ever.Update: still among the dumbest games ever as you must login again and again if your service is bad. very frustrating to play if not on wifi.

Speed bug annoying

A feeding ground for harassment type behavior.
I have playing this game since year three, fun game but there are individuals that act as individuals in a community game allowed to harass other players while they take advantage of the game not even for team advances but personal individual goals. The admins do not answer to these issues allowing social psychopathic individuals to take their anger and frustration out on other players are ignored.

Best AR game
Have been playing this game for years and have loved every aspect of it. The commitment level is whatever you want it to be, got free time play alot, don’t have a lot of free time don’t have to play much. Want to get out and visit new places then take part in anomalies!

Really fun
Ignore all the 1 star reviews, it's just people yapping about "big data" bugs that were patched a while ago, and people who have a skill issue, it's a fun game if you like exploring, and you can always use a VPN if you can't get out.

AI will take over the world. It’s already taking millions of jobs. And you are training it with this app. Imagine paying the app IAP and training it too. One-star praise
There are not many players, but you like to drive them away.
I used to pay for the medals, but I won't do it anymore. The medals are too ugly to buy and it looks like generated by ai, especially the horse's year medal. The cats' medals are too expensive to buy.
It makes me angry because I can't apply any new portals again. I will keep "afk" until that feature back.

The addition of the store to buy gear changed the landscape of the game. There are individuals who dedicate their lives to this game now and spend an absurd amount of money to ensure they keep their “area” locked down. When every portal has max shields, there’s not much you can do unless you are willing to spend even more money buying more gear. It’s a game where only Niantic wins

Formerly fun game now just a money grab.
This game will stop what you are listening to.
Free to play game with in app purchases. In the last year or so more and more of this game is devoted to selling a monthly subscription. Way more than half of the limited time events are paid only. The play screen is now being crowded with ads to buy items with premium credits. Another thing ruined by greed.

Safety for women
Niantic continues to ignore women who report stalking behavior from men. This is completely unacceptable and unsafe. I have reported a player who is actively stalking me, harassing me, cheating, etc and Niantic does NOTHING. They don’t care about women or safety for female players. It’s gotten so bad I’ve made police reports and my only option at this point is to completely dump the game. Don’t let a game get you harmed by toxic players.

Please fix the sound cutting out issue for good!!
Anytime you launch the app, it cuts out the sound from any app on your device. Sometimes they’ll fix it. Sometimes it comes back. Whoever’s got that bad code in github needs to delete it and have extra PRs on their code!!! Or add a test case specifically to test this. Please!!!

Great fun ruined by over selling
Love this game! I have been playing since 2018. Mind puzzles, strategy, and scavenger hunts await. However the developers have gotten greedy in recent months and are attempting to sell expensive, unnecessary items far too often with marketing tactics that routinely interferes with game play. There are great ways to be profitable without tanking the game by upsetting your loyal fan base.

Freezing and Bugs
I don’t know if it’s my new 17 pro or the fact I’m on iOS 26.2, but there are days where the app freezes nonstop. You think you picked up XM only to restart the app and be empty. You try to pick up that key on the ground and everything freezes. If I’m lucky the app will start working 20 seconds later, but usually the entire phone is unresponsive, even the side buttons don’t work.
Long time ingress player so it pains me to see the game so unplayable at times. I have hope they’ll be fixed soon or by the latest update.

Suggestion to Remove Faction Switching Feature

They Deleted my Account!!!
I can no longer login with Facebook. Looks like they got rid of that option and I had no other login methods. So my account is gone. After years of playing with tons of medals, lots of AP, portal contributions, and countless hours in this game. They just got rid of my account like it was trash. All because they don’t allow Facebook logins anymore.

Was fun
This game is so much fun until all the “spoofers” come out when you actually start doing well. I am a semi new player and for some advice for someone who’s thinking about starting out. Just don’t play something else. They make it almost impossible to get cheaters kicked it will totally ruin the experience right after you take a portal to have someone who isn’t there reclaim it then claim something else miles away a minute later.

Still the most unique mobile game ever made
Ingress remains one of the most innovative and immersive games on mobile. There is simply nothing else like it. It turns the entire world into a living, evolving battlefield where every walk, every errand, every landmark becomes part of a global strategy game. After all these years, I am still amazed at how Ingress blends exploration, teamwork, lore, and real-world adventure into something that feels genuinely meaningful.
I play Enlightened, and while both factions are fun and full of passionate players, there is no denying there is consistently a huge disparity in numbers. For whatever reason, more new agents seem drawn to Resistance at first glance, often outnumbering Enlightened two to one in many areas. It makes victories as an Enlightened agent even more satisfying, but it can also skew the game balance for new players.
I actually think Niantic could help with this in a subtle, subliminal-style way. When the game sees that one faction significantly outnumbers the other, the intro sequence or onboarding dialogue could gently lean into the idea that the smaller side is the side that “needs you” or “is pursuing the real truth.” Not forcing anything, not breaking the story, just a soft nudge. If Resistance is overloaded, maybe the Enlightened could be framed as the underdog seekers of discovery. If Enlightened ever outnumbered Resistance, flip the implication. Simple, lore-friendly, and it helps balance the global conflict naturally.
But even with the uneven population, Ingress remains absolutely incredible. The sense of community, the strategic depth, the satisfaction of flipping a whole neighborhood green — nothing compares. If you want a game that gets you exploring your city, meeting people, and thinking five moves ahead, Ingress is unmatched.
Enlightened or Resistance, it is still one of the best mobile gaming experiences ever created. Highly recommended.
