Google "John Harris and Shiren" to get an introduction to this series. I tend to agree with John Harris's taste in games and I first heard about Shiren on the Roguelike Radio podcast. John said Shiren deserves a bigger audience in the US and after playing Shiren 6 I have to agree! I think it works great on Android if you are okay reading smaller font (I got used to it quickly).

YES I have been waiting years and years for a legit shiren game on mobile!! also this runs better then on my switch sooo now I need the rest of them or at least The tower of fortune and the dice of fate plz

I love Shiren, it's the best true successor to Rogue that we have, but the mobile implementation of this game is quite poor. I would say that currently it should be considered a controller-required game. I can only hope the Devs add some alternative, more touch based, control schemes.

I say this as someone with well over 100 hours in the Switch version, that this game is well worth your time, but only if you can stand touchpad control schemes, which I can't. The grid and menus have absolutely no touch interface, which I think is a tragically missed opportunity, especially for how much the Mystery Dungeon installments on the DS benefitted from the touch screen. I could easily see myself coming back to this port if it was put together with a mobile UI in mind.

A traditional rogue-like where you can earn some carry-over progress, but nothing is permanent. If you're familiar with the Mystery Dungeon series of games, this is one of them. Shiren games are punishing, but that's part of the fun. Learning all the different enemies and items is rewarding, and there is a robust encyclopedia, and training mode in game that helps you figure it out. There is also a robust post-game that will keep you playing for a long time. It's one of the best rogue-likes.

A masterwork of Mystery Dungeon-eering. The port is stellar, running just as well as (if not BETTER than) the Nintendo Switch version. Some of this game's dungeons have provided me with more entertainment than some entire games do! This is my favorite Mystery Dungeon title so far, and I'm so happy to see it made so widely available and at such an affordable price. The full game is $40 USD with a $15 USD DLC on other platforms! And here, you get everything for just $20!
