SmoothTrack 2.0 uses the head and eye tracking AR capabilities of your phone to provide the simplest and best head tracker for 6 degrees-of-freedom head movements in your sim games. ----- "The best new controller on the market." - Charlie Hall, Polygon Customer reviews: "SmoothTrack just works. Less than 5 minutes to install, setup and fly. Love not being tethered to my desk! 5 stars!!" "This worked perfectly and way better than expected! Totally enhanced my experience with MFS 2020!" --- It's a near magical experience to seamlessly slightly move your head and have your game perspective immediately play along (the movements in the game are exaggerated so that you only have to make slight movements of your head to control the camera). Additionally, since version 2, your eyes are also optionally tracked and will nudge the camera based on where you're glancing on screen! - Simply lean forward to get a closer look at your Flight Simulator cockpit! - Look a bit up to see the overhead panel of your A320! - Simply shift your head a bit to the right to see the direction of the space station you're approaching in Elite: Dangerous! - Look a bit left before a hard left turn in Euro Truck Simulator 2! No headset or extra equipment of any kind is required! Simply set up your device so that it can see your face. Using simple camera gestures, you can shift your perspective in-game. Also, if you want, you can store views (say, a copilot angle, or a cockpit closeup) as Quick Views for easy access later. Your head movements are slightly exaggerated which enables you to look out of a cockpit side window with just a slight movement of your head to the left. Any game that supports the FreeTrack or TrackIR protocol will work with this, including: - Microsoft Flight Simulator - Microsoft FSX - DCS World - Elite: Dangerous - IL2: Sturmovik - Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Kerbal Space Program - ...and many, many others! Email and Discord support is provided if there are any issues (or if you have any ideas for new features!).

2.01 - New App Clip for trying out a simplified version of SmoothTrack with yaw axis tracking! - Fixed QuickViews not persisting between app launches - Fixed eye tracking settings not persisting between app launches - Fixed AirPods Pro mode to work whether or not tracking was set to on. Added a button to show the AirPods Pro mode capability. 2.0 was a HUGE update of SmoothTrack: * Brand new and improved UI, rewritten from the ground up to be 93% less ugly! * Added eye tracking capabilities for nudging the view when glancing around! Activate eye tracking by tapping the eye button, and set up eye tracking sensitivity in the settings. * You can now easily create camera offsets with camera control gestures: panning with one, two, or three fingers on the screen. * Easily save, choose, and delete offset quick views right on the main screen. I really hope you enjoy SmoothTrack! If you do, you can support it by leaving an App Store review and by spreading the word to your sim communities! Very good all around, smooth as silk like TrackIR, you can even use AirPods for head tracking and there’s a dark mode so that your phone doesn’t get too hot. Literally plug and play, very easy USB setup with zero latency. 10/10. All for 15 dollars!

Doesn’t work
- Ndsixl · v2.01
whoever made this app i finally tweaked everything and it looks like my old vr footage now. this is worth way more than 15 bucks i was skeptical at first oh my days. airpod feature is a game changer
- renn2k · v2.01
I got my brother into dcs and I needed a second head tracking salutation - didn’t want to buy track ir again and now I don’t have to! This is amazing thanks to the developers
- NateDreww · v2.01
Like the idea but super frustrating and confusing to install can’t get it to work waste of $15 for me!
- tippy184 · v2.01
…..this just doesn’t work. I went to forums, YouTube and followed instructions to the letter without fail. I tried contacting support and no response. This was anything but easy to set up. In fact it’s pretty complicated and not at all intuitive or user friendly. What a waste of money.
- SmiteMatter · v2.01
Great for flight sims, i use it in arma, dcs, and war thunder to great effect. Cheap, effective, greatly enhanced abilities
- PorckChopz · v2.01
It took me about 2 hours to finally get it to work but only because I was partially ignore to the instructions. If you follow the instructions very carefully it works perfectly. If anyone is wondering it does work with American Truck simulator and Farming simulator automatically once tracking is setup. 10/10

Highly recommend this to any simulator user. 👍 Recent updates - more like an overhaul - are excellent! My iPhone is held by an arm that I bought on Amazon; the arm is not touching my sim rig at all in order to avoid interference by shaking. 🫨 This app allows me to look around any cockpit - plane or race car- just like the real thing.
- butcherbird190 · v2.0
I was thinking of getting the trackingir from Amazon but after watching a few YouTube videos i stumbled upon Smooth tracking and it works so well. I saved myself $130 dollars and it’s worth it in my honest opinion.
- Austinchillz · v2.0
Nice app
- uvyftdyvuvy · v2.0
I was hesitant for a little while how well this would work for DCS/MSFS but after buying it I can say I’m utterly impressed. It is a professional and well crafted product and was practically effortless to setup. Only about 1-2 hours to perfect my curves without any prior experience and getting it working perfectly how I want it. Nothing more to say than if you have any interest in this just buy it! It’s nothing short of spectacular!
- TvM x FragZ · v2.0
I use SmoothTrack along with opentrack for head tracking in flight sims. This app works flawlessly, even in a dimly lit room and I don’t need to attach anything to my head.
- Abraxas026 · v2.0
Highly recommend this app, its features are top notch i cannot game without it anymore. For the price there is no match and the setup takes less than 2 min especially if you watch a guide on youtube. I use it for American truck sim and msfs 2020 and have been recently learning in another mod/game called falcon bms and it makes using the cockpit 10x easier. For the price you literally cannot beat it. 10/10
- phil loves · v2.0
The tracking is phenomenal, especially with my IPhones high frame rates, at 120 FPS, it’s amazing, but the software they use to interface with OpenTrack crashes every time I launch, or is stopped by firewall, I let it bypass the firewall, launch it, and it still crashes. I hope I can get it working.
- MrCloudOK · v2.0
Recently I have been looking for a way to enable my ability to look around while playing Elite Dangerous. I have a HOSAS setup but really wanted the ability to increase my visibility especially when in combat. I looked at a VR headset but didn’t really want the stress on my neck. I ran across this app referenced on Reddit and thought I would give it a try. I’m really happy with the results! Love that I can look around my cockpit while flying. Added immersion for only $12! The app was pretty easy to configure and just worked once I was in game. I do occasionally have to recalibrate but that is probably due to me slightly adjusting y chair as I play. This works by connecting your phone to your computer via USB or WiFi. I’m using WiFi and have found it to have great performance. The app will work with your phone from multiple angles. I sit my phone on a charging cradle on my desk for tracking which not only helps keep my phone charged but keeps the phone at a good consistent angle for viewing my head movements.
- Dark Aten · v2.0
Worth reviewing which I never do, but this app is amazing. Was researching head tracking products we have all heard of before and somehow through the rabbit hole heard of this working with an open source program. After about 10 minutes I was already using it for American truck simulator. Can’t wait to try it on flight sims now. For the cost of this app I have a head tracking program and don’t need to wear anything! Well done! Worth every penny
- Boone5347 · v2.0
This is awesome. No equipment on your head.
- uytyuuuy · v2.0
Work perfectly with MSFS 2020 and BeamNG.drive
- BryanK27 · v2.0
This software is so perfect, and the facial tracking effect is very good. It's just that I want to use an Android phone exclusively. Can I transfer the purchase to the Android market?
- mosterdan · v2.0
Using face recognition as head tracker is a fantastic idea! And it is amazing that you made this! Though from my experience that it always drifts when using with open track, not sure where I should adjust
- duchenpaul · v2.0
As somebody who has tried VR, but found the graphics to be lacking, being able to track my head with my iPhone is amazing. Also the newest version is so much better than the old version. Keep up the good work.
- the-music-dude · v2.0
This is my first ever app review. I had to write one for this one. This app costs $13 and provides a level of accuracy close to Tobii and TrackIR. Although actual dedicated hardware will perform better, this comes extremely close and is pennies compared to the cost of some head tracking devices. I love using it in American Truck Simulator and I look forward to using it in MSFS2024 as well. Great app!
- JoeStebbs · v2.0
This is an excellent app and does exactly what it says it will do. The setup is minimally complicated as long as you follow the instructions. I’m using it with an iphone 14 plus and it tracks way better and with a larger range than my trackIR ever did. It doesn’t lose tracking even when I’ve turned my head away from the screen. I’m using the USB mode, I haven’t tried the network mode yet. It works great with my gaming laptop so I can use head tracking on the go. It works so well, it inspired me to model and 3d print a holder for my phone to hang on the back of the laptop screen. Entirely worth the purchase! If you play flight sims, having a head tracking solution is amazing. It’s like the difference between using a joystick+pedals vs keyboard and mouse.
- ScopeSux · v2.0
Did the job well, no need for trackIR and a hat.
- 2jzboy · v1.10
If you’re looking to purchase this to use with Infinite Flight, it’s no longer supported unfortunately. Wish I knew before wasting $10
- Sid the FukBoi · v1.10
I just bought this app to help with integrating opentrack into the helicopter sim-lite game I developed, MH-Zombie. It works flawlessly and I got opentrack integrated within a couple hours. This is probably the best value I’ve gotten out of $10 throughout the development process.
- Raulboy · v1.10
Looked into head tracking options. Thought I’d try this first since it was cheap. Setup wasn’t too bad, instantly worked when I launched DCS Works really well in DCS. Immersion went up so much. 10/10 highly recommended getting this if your getting into flight sims and want to get a head tracker
- arseholedestroya · v1.10
I recently bought this app in July of the 25th and for some odd reason this app alone while it works amazingly great is causing a verification required loop when I have purchased this app. It then says that I’m unable to refund to be able to cancel the verification required loop because I wanna redownload some of my apps I deleted in the past. This is very annoying.
- Lyn Beats · v1.10
So I’ve been researching ad nauseam VR vs head tracking. I’m still intrigued with VR but this is scratching my itch in the mean time as I decide. This is phenomenal, works flawlessly in FS2020 and DCS. As others have said, the easiest $9 and 5 stars! Keep up the good work!
- LastM4nStanding · v1.09
This $11 eye tracker is at par if mot better that the $200 eye trackers. Is much less of a hassle to setup and configure. No need to wear any caps or stixking sensors etc. The iphone camera works amazing with it, even in low light conditions! My setup doesnt have much ambient light around and it still tracks flawlessly! Once you set up your curves and gains it works beautifully! All you have to do is just turn the app on and open opentrack on your computer! Im thoroughly impressed!
- Madhuppaliwal · v1.09
Works right out of the box and exactly as intended. Great head tracking solution for anyone who doesn’t want to spend $2-300 on TrackIR. I highly recommend.
- rrsrdrtydtyufty · v1.07
For just 10 bucks you get a head tracking solution that drastically improves your experience in games like MS Flight Simulator. If you don’t already have dedicated head tracking hardware this is a no brainer. Tip: gradually increase the sensitivity as you get accustomed to the motion so you can look all the way to the side without twisting your neck and eyeballs too much.
- msl422004 · v1.07
This is a great app, works flawlessly for flight sims. I would like however the optio to use backside camera instead of the front camera.
- Loopha · v1.07
This app was fantastic and used to hook right up. Now I’ve done everything I can think of and this app will not connect to my PC. and there’s not help online…”No Route to Host” is this apps favorite thing to say. I’ve done everything online and nothing. Disappointing app
- Vwdubbin · v1.07
As a former rw pilot of 22 years and avid flight summer in the past after a 10 year hiatus I broke down and got a new computer and msfs 2020. When setting up with latest hardware and some ancient the sim still didn’t feel real. As a past user of tracker ir I thought I would give this app a try. After a challenging setup mostly due to windows 11 idiot proofing thanks to the great help files included with the app got it up and running. I am not exaggerating that the realism of the sim went up about 80%! As a former user of tracker ir this does it all with no wires and no headset. With an iPhone stand I have my phone charging on a great almost unseen place to the left of my velocity yoke and this thing just works-perfectly. One of the best most useful add ins for flight simulator! Extremely happy!
- Geofa · v1.07
App works as advertised, but doesn’t appear to be able to stay connected in the background (so won’t work if you also want to run an instrument panel or flight planning app simultaneously on the same device).
- Dafnessic · v1.07
For someone without a dedicated set up and on a budget this app is a life saver. Never had a single issue and is so easy to use. Recommend to everyone getting into the sim world. Thanks Dev!
- falconer7 · v1.06
Works with ATS and Euro truck! Worth the purchase.
- Lord Vinnie · v1.06
Great face tracking tool and responsive dev.
- jambobity · v1.06
So far the app is definitely not bad but seems a bit buggy. I am using an IPhone 8 so that may be the issue but Im not sure. Basically the problem I have is that the app freezes when I try to interact with the axis sensitivity and/or the start/pause button. When this happens the tracking stops working and I have to restart the app to fix it. Its not a massive issue because I can use opentrack to edit sensitivity but it is pretty annoying still. I also find that when turning my head (yaw axis) the app will think I am also pitching my head down (causing me to look to the side and down in game). This same thing happens with the roll axis (when I “yaw” my head the app thinks i am “rolling” also. Anyways most of these issues are manageable with the right settings in opentrack, but any feedback from the developers would be greatly appreciated
- Pineapple Nation · v1.06
I use this with MSFS and it adds so much. VR isn’t great as I need access to my notepad when talking to ATC and throttle controls. This adds that VR realism. The new update to account for camera angle helps so much.
- yasire · v1.06
A fantastic head tracker for 10 bucks. A game changer. Setup was pretty quick, I use it every day.
- The_Giraffe_Boy · v1.06
I’m using this for DCS and it is great! The tracking is smooth and it automatically connects to DCS as soon as I open the game. My only grievance is that connecting it to the pc can be a little annoying at times but it is well worth it.
- app user12748 · v1.05
I’m using this in USB mode with DCS and the A10C module. It works incredibly well. Follow the instructions on the support website to a T and it will work. I was previously using AI track and a PS2 eye, which worked ok - this is better, much better. Well worth the price. I’m so glad I tried this before shelling out the money for trackir.
- Mrwagdog · v1.05
I knew about this app for a while before getting it but I was pretty skeptical at first. But I finally decided to try it out and I'm very happy with the results. I used to run AITrack and OpenTrack in DCS, Elite Dangerous, and War thunder, but that felt glitchy and spastic at times. Plus if I looked over my shoulder in a game and looked forward again, I felt like I was fighting AITrack to look where I wanted. But with this app paired with OpenTrack, I didn't feel like I was fighting the tracker at all. It was very smooth and fun to use and contrary to some of those critical reviews here, it's not that hard to set up. 10/10 would definitely recommend
- iC_FR0ST · v1.05
For $10, this app is a must buy for anyone who plays Microsoft Flight Simulator. Being able too look around while flying not only increases the realism, but it makes flying in the simulator so much easier—particularly when flying patterns. I have been using this for months now and it works great. It isn’t perfect and it does require a bit of research to understand how the mappings work in OpenTrack (search YouTube), but the value for price is exceedingly high. Other solutions like TrackIR are orders of magnitude more expensive and while I haven’t tried them, I have trouble believing that they are orders of magnitude better. The amount of enjoyment that SmoothTrack adds to flight simming cannot be overstated. Anyone who doesn’t already have a head tracking solution should buy this app!
- geoffda · v1.05
This ten dollar app is better than expensive peripherals like Tobii or Track IR. Up and running in less than ten minutes, works flawlessly. Saved me 200 bucks since I no longer need extra hardware! Support this dude he deserves it.
