Teach Your Monster to Read

I purchased this app for 12 but it is super buggy. My 4-year-old was playing one of the games with sounding out the letters but it kept telling him his answers were incorrect even though they weren't

DO NOT BUY The product is moving to a subscription model and you will lose your money. Just got an email about this. It's an absolutely wonderful program, and I've bought it multiple times on multiple devices but in 45 days all of that money goes in the garbage.

After paying for the game, this developer force switches paid users into a subscription model. They should have released their subscription game as a distinct, separate product instead of screwing paid customers. They have excuses for their bad behavior, justifying it with "but now it's free for schools!" (but they're hoping kids will play at school and bug their parents to download the game and until they pay for the outlandish subscription at home). Don't download, don't buy, don't pay.

App is great but being discontinued, if you intend to get this app don't. it will be discontinued very soon to turn into a subscription service instead. company is great and hope they are reasonable for future users with the subscription costs.

wont be able to access what I paid for. a different game with a different monetisation model should be released as a different app. why you'd do it this way I couldn't possibly imagine. I'll just have to be careful not to update this app forever, where updating is something I do automatically for every other app I've ever used.

Just received an email that the developers are moving to a subscription based service and the paid full version will be removed. The last thing this world needs is more subscriptions especially for a children's game. If they absolutely HAVE to go to a subscription service, I think paid users should have the option to keep the older game version or get grandfathered in somehow rather than being milked for more money. The focus should remain on education not greed.

Not a great first experience. The first question "enter your year of birth" - I enter my child's date of birth, but then the field to enter DOB resets. Not really sure what to do as the app is for children and I entered their year of birth, I'm guessing for tailored content. Not great from a £9 app. I currently can't use the app

I downloaded this because it was in the language learning section, and I love the art style. I was hoping it would be multilingual because learning language through games is much easier for me than basic memorization of flash cards and words. I'd love to see other languages as an option in the future, and I look forward to teaching my monster to read, because I'm still going to play this as an adult.

Edited: I did like this game for helping my kid to learn reading, they were into it. Now they fixed the login so I'm updating my review. Original review: The custom keyboard is so bad I gave up and uninstalled the app. Please let me use a password manager and an accessible keyboard

Teach your monster to read is one of my favorite learning apps! My kids used to love it and learn a lot from it. I wish i could give it 5 stars, but there are so many cons. The pros of the app don't even make it worth it anymore. To begin, I have a teacher account, and my students can't even get on and play the apps anymore. The app keeps closing down as soon as you put your birth year in. And now you have to pay for each app 😒, which I did and still won't work. Disappointed is all I can say.

First time playing this game with my boys (3&5) and I think it's just fantastic. The boys were both engaged and the levels were perfect for where the level they're at. My youngest went first with his monster and everytime he got it right he'd say yes and fist pump and his brother kept asking for a turn. He had his turn and it was more tricky and definitely challenged him but exactly where he's up to with his sounds and reading but he was so engaged and was so proud when he completed first planet

Not great for kids who already have some phonics knowledge. I was hoping to find an app to help my son practice and strengthen his reading, but the 2nd level was too easy for him and the 3rd level too advanced. A placement test like in reading eggs would have helped tailor the levels. He also was frustrated that he couldn't always catch all the stars when he finished a level. It might be better for very young kids who don't have any formal schooling yet.
